blue bar Posted August 31, 2019 Report Posted August 31, 2019 What feed should I feed the hens when racing the cocks on widowhood during the week thanks guys in advance
blue bar Posted September 1, 2019 Author Report Posted September 1, 2019 they go out every second day get them out before I go to work waiting for day light saving to kick in
DODC Posted September 1, 2019 Report Posted September 1, 2019 Keep your hens in good nick, don't let them pair up.feed 50% barlay no heavy mix, feed them a racing mix on basketing day.so they are not looking for food when you put with the cocks. If they leave the barley your feeding too much.
Roland Posted September 1, 2019 Report Posted September 1, 2019 Any feed that they will eat. Not being personal at all … but I must ask 'What would be the difference'? You need only control their' feeds according to how - if and when - they would be racing. Then exactly as any race week. Yes keeping them 90% fit and ready to bring up to 100 fit if possible. Remember 'Only' fit birds can be trained to get fitter. (they should be allowed to become fit via themselves... you, nor anyone else can make a not fit bird fit). That takes time and patience till they become 'loft Fit'! Too many, far too many pigeons are trained when not even mentally fit. Big cause of losses.
blue bar Posted September 2, 2019 Author Report Posted September 2, 2019 thanks for the reply's I am only racing the cocks so if the hens have a mix with 50% barley would I be on the right track first time trying widowhood
Wiley Posted September 2, 2019 Report Posted September 2, 2019 I would have the hens on 100% barley apart from Friday and Saturday, and apart from those 2 days it would be less then 1 oz
