I had just let my yb team out yesterday about 10 ish when a family of peregrines arrived in town (4) and proceeded to give an aerial display for well over half an hour

The pigeons quickly dropped to a safe height and flew around the house before landing ,they then went about their business bathing etc with some watching the Falcons

In the 1990s the pigeons would have flown into the house windows under the car etc

But nowadays the Falcons are that common they are not disturbed the same or certainly don't show it

The display from the 2 big young Falcons was something else with the parents continually flying miles outwith the town to catch pray to teach their young

They went to many thousands of feet to just a few hundred

Their training time this week has been from 10ish till noon when they then go back to rest

Hope my racers don't return today until after their show fingers crossed

There's hundreds of starlings locally and they usually dive into the conifers when there's a sparrow hawk about but watching them last week they are now circling the hawks like the pigeons do.

I witnessed a training display for the first time last week in Aberdeen City centre. Spotted an adult in the sky carrying a kill I presume it was a female because it was massive. Suddenly she dropped the pray and from nowhere a youngster stooped in at speed and took the prey. They carried on side by side with the youngster carrying the prey towards the nest sight at marischal college. They were being pestered by swooping seagulls. The adult just turned and like a flash nailed a seagull.

That's right when training the adult does not kill the prey if possible and if the youngsters miss the catch she just takes hold again and re- drops it
