alex wight Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 Andrew, well done for your efforts in this cause. I,m sickened that so called fanciers, have jumped to slate your efforts. I understand the frustrations, but lets look at whats happening here. 1. The auction was run for a good cause by someone who cares 2. There was no intention of upsetting anyone. 3. It wasnt Andrew that caused the problem, and he will have learned from this. 4. To be called out to work wasnt planned either. 5. Once the problem was highlighted, Andrew tried to sort it out hence not being able to answer questions. 6. If the auction went to plan, the website used wouldnt be brought into the fray. All i say is, lets look at life here, i dont think the critisisem is very fair. I am very saddened that this seems to be the norm in life today. CIN, yes lost out, but will also lose out in the future if this is the attitude of fellow fanciers. Just take a minutes thought before the unacceptable behaviour starts, its not needed. alex.

hepste Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 CIN UPDATE. Unfortuantly i was very busy today and was called in to work. i attempted to transfer calls to my mobile but that did not work. sorry for the two pesons i missed via phone but i did mention to bid online to ensure your bids are secure. with regards to timing this was a problem which i have only just found out about i was told that the time change last week would not effect the auction running time but for somereason it has. the charity auction was run for charity and has been run in my own time, i did not have to do this, also all additional costs have been covered by myself for the auction a lot of work has gone in to it. i am sorry for any inconvenience this has caused any persons, if there is anything i could do to change this i would but however theres not a lot i can do. Thank you for all the support members have offered towards this, the total raised was £1,000 + approx things need finalising. with regards to payments etc details will be sent to winners in duecourse doners will be updated later next week with winner details once payments have been received. i will be away over the next week from monday till friday. I don't agree with the way this is being dealt with Andrew. You have agreed that the auction would run for 1 hour longer than it has, and you are in effect under contract to meet that obligation. If this were a saleroom auction, where there is a dispute, it is normal for the item to be put up again. In this case, I think the auction should be put up for a further 24 hours. We all know that many people make last minute bids, and much extra revenue is generated this way. I appreciate you haven't had to do this sale, but you have, and it needs to be done properly. You will also be aware of the self publicity/exposure it has generated for your business, so the CIN cause isn't the only benefactor. Had I gifted a bird I probably wouldn't be best pleased that my CIN donation has been short changed.
Guest joshdonlan Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 Andrew, did you also look into the courier thing?
Novice Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 I really don't know Andrew but I think he really did his best for a very worthy cause. I bid on a bird and lost---so what there are plenty more available. If, indeed there is a fault then it is with "Birdstall Auctions" (I think that is the name). Therefore why don't we ask them to make up the hypothetical shortfall by way of a donation to "CIN"

It's the way you deal with errors is how you are judged. It is especially important when using a registered charity's good name and logo, that all eventualities are covered, money raised is done fairly and squarely, and everything is as professional as possible. This auction falls short of that.

If Andrew seen these problems before they happened, i,m pretty sure they wouldnt have. Cut the guy some slack, instead of hanging someone doing a good turn. He tried his best, and due to problems outwith his control, he was let done. A little support is needed.

Guest Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 Andrew, i feel i have the right to have registered by disapointment with you, with the early closing of the sale, and the lack of information at the key time of the auction, in a respectful and polite manner, which is what i feel i have done. I did not require the auction to be re-run, i registered by feelings with you and stated clearly, that as far as i was concerned, the thing was done, over. I have commended you several times for your efforts, i have not abused you or in my opinion stepped out of line with you. I was one of the first to offer assistance to you in this endeavour, and i remain happy about doing so, despite my dissapointment at the end. I do not support others jumping in to have a pop, but some have good reason to be unhappy don't you think. Once again, WELL DONE on what you did acheive, but if you have any further issues with me personally, you have my contact details, please feel free to contact me. All the best Dave
