Fair Play Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 Totally unfair to people who are bidding on pigeons - should have a time extension especially for the cause it is pertaining to

hepste Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 Just a thought, but I suspect the auction time was not adjusted for the recent 1 hour time diff. Oops!!
pjc Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 Just a thought, but I suspect the auction time was not adjusted for the recent 1 hour time diff. Oops!! if thats the case then very poor management!
hepste Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 if thats the case then very poor management! Well we all make mistakes, and the world would be pretty boring if we were all perfect. Perhaps we should wait to see if the way it is dealt with is fair before passing judgement.

retired Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 Sorry just to add - I am looking forward to the response here as this has potentially cost the charity a decent amount of money overall
Guest Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 Andrew, just been on to have a look, it looks like its closed, I thought the sale was on until 7pm tonight, its only just gone 6.30pm?? Have just noticed this, I actually posted this earlier tonight, not Amanda, the laptop must have been logged in her name. However, I rang the sale number directly after posting it, and left a message around 6.35pm tonight, requesting a call back to explain what what was going on, and to bid up on some pigeons if possible as it was still within auction time. Nothing doing as yet. I don't wish to jump on anyone, but do strongly feel an explanation is due. Being a donator, and a bidder, i have to admit that i'm very disapointed at this moment in time, particularly with the lack of info. The website being used should have been left up and running so that everyone involved could watch for the info being updated. I'm sure Andrew will come through and there will be legitimate reasons behind the problems. Dave
Guest Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 CIN UPDATE. Unfortuantly i was very busy today and was called in to work. i attempted to transfer calls to my mobile but that did not work. sorry for the two pesons i missed via phone but i did mention to bid online to ensure your bids are secure. with regards to timing this was a problem which i have only just found out about i was told that the time change last week would not effect the auction running time but for somereason it has. the charity auction was run for charity and has been run in my own time, i did not have to do this, also all additional costs have been covered by myself for the auction a lot of work has gone in to it. i am sorry for any inconvenience this has caused any persons, if there is anything i could do to change this i would but however theres not a lot i can do. Thank you for all the support members have offered towards this, the total raised was £1,000 + approx things need finalising. with regards to payments etc details will be sent to winners in duecourse doners will be updated later next week with winner details once payments have been received. i will be away over the next week from monday till friday.

I'm not trying to be picky, but how do the winning bidders know they have won Andrew? How can anyone send payments if you aren't notifying anyone until later next week, where are the final details? As for being called into work, this happens and is unfortunate, but you were on line when i posted earlier around 6.30????? Whilst i agree that you are doing this out of the good of your heart, the point is no-one made you, YOU CHOSE to. I commend you for your efforts, but surely a finalized list should be issued prior to you going away! Surely this is the least you can do for the people who have participated? As for bidding on line, the website you ran the sale on closed down the sale an hour early, and whilst this is obviously an oversight, its the charity that has lost out here, which was the point of you doing the sale was it not? It makes no difference to me, but I have to now agree with PJC, maybe the sale should have been run on a more reputable website, and i do not mean the one where charges would be taken from charity money. In closing, well done again for your charitable efforts, but for future reference, if the advert says it closes at 7pm, then it should be ensured that it closes as stated, not an hour earlier. The charity lost money tonight.
Guest Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 Full list will be availible shortley, all winners have been emailed and should have received an automatic email Andrew
Guest Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 Sorry once again, i could only do what was possible at the time. i must point out that also everybody was advised to get bids in early to avoid dissapointment on auction lots should somthing happen such as this. Andrew

Andrew I totally agree Andrew, but you were online, and i phoned the "phone bid" number with 25 minutes left of the auction. The auction was closed an hour early! That responsibility is not down to the bidder. The last time we spoke, you had no access to pm, which surprised me earlier when you sent me the post via pm. As far as i'm concerned, the thing is done, over, and again i commend you for your efforts. I await the final list to see if we have won any birds or not. I think not as we haven't received the e-mail. Dave

Andrew afraid that not how an aution works as the the phobe auction was evidence and every other auction ive seen most bids are in the last 20 mins let alone the last hour i know it was for charity but even still pll like to wait too see what happens and try to get the bird for a reasonable price fair play for the effort that why a site that updates itself is best and im sure if u were called away im sure someone would have stepped into your shoes in the last hour if u had of ran on a site that updates itself if u remember Andrew i send u message or said in the open forum that on the phobe auction that was on here that it was so busy in the last hour u would have found it hard the way u were doing it with out even been called away and even if u were everyone would have known the most up to date bids not trying to knock u but maybe a bit more thought and with recent evidence of auctions that was on here should have gave u an idea of how busy things can get best of luck
