Got to agree wi you I remember years ago being at Matt mclachlans glencraig when i was a boy just after he won rennes and I was asking him bout different distances. He said son the pigeon doesn't know it's to fly 500 miles it's up to you to make it fly 500 mile. They don't know if they're sprinters or distance birds. I have a hen myself a pure vandenabelle who was 18 open clermont in 2010 and I'm sure velocity was round about 1050 and you'd think she could have flew another 200 mile

I think the performances put up by rab Hamilton of campus in early nineties was fantastic.when u thinker won the east section averayes flying against competition from eyemouth in the south east to Montrose in the north east and his oft was probably one of the furthest west in the east section.I think he was also runner up in the overall averages as well.competition was a bit stuttering those days as well

Over the years have been fortunate to win the three open races in the federation programme and win the Scottish central combine channel race so to top it would be great to win a national but think I would need to be a wee bit more fortunate to do that

think you'd agree the wind direction determines alot in pigeon racing and today the clubs on east side should have been winning. Grangemouth had a good race I'm referring alot to my own birds here which aren't good enough that's jmo. You made a good choice holding over because it was a true race today
