The picture may be too big (filesize). If you know how to shrink the file size, shrink to under 100kb and then you will be able to post it. On the other hand, email the pic to me and I'll pop it on for you

Maybe I think we are getting bogged down with too many details here. It will just be a bit of fun, as can you really judge the best bird from a photo? Each member may have their preferences about colour or type, but personally I'd look for condition on the bird; it wouldnt bother me a class of different breeds. If there are not enough birds entered for a class (based on if we were having Racer/Fancy/Show Racer) it could revert to Racer/Non-Racer?
-
Thanks Showman, I completely agree - a much better/fair way of doing things. If there are no more advances on Showmans suggestion, anyone like to propose a start date? I'm thinking 1 week to get the entries in, 1 week for the juging poll to be open. This could be a 7 week series then - or should we allow for more time between?

I'd like to say a big well done to everyone in making the sale a big success; but most of all Maddy and Clockman who made it all possible. Well done guys Webmaster

Suggested 'Classes' Young Cock - Any Breed Young Hen - Any Breed Old Racing Cock - Racers Only Old Racing Hen - Racers Only Stock Cock - Any Breed Stock Hen - Any Breed Golden Oldies (birds 10 years or older) Channel Birds Cocks and Hens Grand Final - Winners from the previous classes. My ideas to run it. All photos to be sent to forum@pigeonbasic.com, and must have been taken within 7 days before the class starts (most cameras have a date function). Other than that, entries to remain anonymous until poll is finished (no voting for friends!), and open 7 days before the poll begins (email entry only).

Great idea Would anyone like to propose a show programme, OB,YB, etc.. I'm sure the judging wouldnt be a problem, either a popularity vote (forum poll) or an independent person? Its up to you

For those having problems with the chat room. Please make sure that you are using the correct link; that is the one at the top of this page (a smaller popup window comes up) or you can use this address: http://www.pigeonbasics.com/chat.php to get to the same page. Type your desired 'nickname' into the text box and click [Chat!] - button. If it is your first time on the chat room it will take a little longer to load, and you will be prompted by a message (off the top of my head) asking if you 'would like to install and run', to this you must click, [ok]/[yes]/[confirm] (whichever is on your prompt). Once the chatroom has loaded fully, you should see (attached picture). Chat didnt load On your computer please go to your Control Pannel - either in [My Computer] or on the Start Menu. Check that you have something called 'Java' or 'Java Runtime Environment'. If you dont; please download and install the Java Runtime Environment from this link: http://java.com/en/download/windows_xpi.jsp After download and installing, you may have to restart your computer before it will work. Then commence with the instructions above.

Thankyou Ross. Good to see your site and JNS is back with us When I've popped in the chat room its been between 10-11pm and there is usually someone then
-
Sorry about that, indeed Terry is right, the jns server seems to be down. I have sent an email to clarify the situation, and when it'll be fixed - awaiting a reply. It just so happened at a bad time; I left bound for Belgium on Friday morning and only arrived back an hour ago. Needless to say with work out there this is the first time I have been able to check on things, and receive any emails. Should know more, or have a fix a little later tonight Webmaster

Certainly will do Johnny. I dont have the captions that may have been displayed with them though. Feel free to post them up just after the photos

Sorry the old forum is no more. There was no way of archiving it, without it being 'forum'. If there are any queries, questions or comments, even if they were posted on the old forum, post them up on here, the new one, one or many of the new members may be able to add a new angle to the debate Webmaster

If winners are going to be attending the Blackpool show, I'd be happy to meet up and present their prizes. I dont supose everyone who wins something will be at Blackpool, so I'll still post them out. I cant be sure of when I can attend the show until the week before, so wont be planning a meet up until maybe then. -
Forwarded in to me by Jimmy White. Any Captions??

In our continous improvements to the website, some changes have been made tonight. One particular update may cause the odd error, nothing serious, just a page not displaying 100% correctly or performing a slightly different instruction than the one you wanted. If anyone encounters this error, or any error for that matter, would you please post the address of the page that contained the error and what the problem was, either up here on the message forum, a pm to me, or an email. Many thanks. Webmaster

I've been pondering over the reputation system for a few days now, and I asked myself what is it bringing to the site? I couldnt think of anything of value that it brings, and infact I can see how it could upset some members; so I've taken it off. Maybe when the updates have been made I'll add it on again, but we'll see when the time comes.
-
No Doostalker, on the conterary; I look forward to getting these constructive comments. I'm never happy with everything on the site, and that is why we are under continous improvment; your suggestions just point me in the right direction

Thanks Doostalker, I'm just that far behind with reading my BHW's! (Just finished Sept 10th 2004!!!) - must be too much time spent on here!! Great idea snowy, I do encourage mini-site admin's to promote their address to their members; I think I'll send a newsletter to gently remind people Doostalker we had a PC at the Blackpool show 2004, it went down quite well; I'm thinking of doing the same again if I can; but also I have a banner that was on show at Doncaster and Blackpool this last time; hopefully we can get aroound a few more shows this year
