  7. Wet canker and respiratory infection are very common problems during racing. The fancier who does not control these well, and sometimes this mean the use of medication, can expect to lose more birds and not clock as many prixe winners as the fancier who does.
  8. The ideal morning dropping should be a tight brow nut with a distinct white cap and have a down feather stuck to it.
  9. Except for parasite control, avoid flock treatments in young pigeons, only treating unwell individuals so as not to interfere with the develpoing natural immunity of the team as a whole.
  10. Overcrowding is the most common stress predisposing the young bird to disease.

  14. It is possible sometimes to tell what sort of loft a fancier has simply by looking at his birds, droppings under the microscope. WELL FOLKS, THIS IS THE LAST WAN FOR THE NIGHT, HOPE YOU HAVE ENJOYED THE READING, GETTING A ROW, :( :( :( To be Continued :P 8) 8) 8) ;) ;D ;D ;D
  15. Treating for just the mere presence of E. coli is not productive and the birds will always start showing it again within a week or so after you stop treating.
  16. Very smart pics, like the diferent colour scheme,
  17. Health problems are not an obvious in older birds because, through a longer exposure, they have a higher natural immunity, whick modifies their disease response.
  18. The yolk, which is essentially a ball of yellow slime with a single cell sitting on its surface develops into a chick in only 18 days.
  19. You no fixed that bike yet ya lazy git, ;D ;D ;D ;D
  20. While age, some hens behave and look like cocks because the outer hormone-producing layer of their ovary wastes away.
  21. Pigeons have special glands in their eyelids that produce a mucus that makes their tears stick to the front of the eye. This means that they can fly at the speeds they doo even in hot conditions without the surface of the eyes drying. This would be analogous to us having our head outside the car while it was going 60km/h facing the breeze and not blinking.
  22. Wheres the pics of DJW birds yi were going to take, :-/ still waiting on seeing them,
  23. Pigeons like other birds, have a unique and bizzare structure called the pecten, which sits on the top of the optic nerve in the back of the eye. It is thought to improve vision clarity or to aid in long distance.
  24. The bright colour of the iris in the eyes is due to tiny fat droplets, which reflect light. When the bird is ill, these fat droplets are absorbed and the colour becomes duller.
  25. Blind Pigeons can still find there way home, In experiments in which pigeons were temporary blinded by putting black discs over the surface of the eyes, the birds still homed from 80 miles. It seems that vision is only necessary for the final approach to the loft.
