    question

How come its impossible to get a draw in a pigeon race, surely its possible for 2 fanciers to be flying the same distance at the same time and clock in the same time with same velocity, how do you then decide the winner. sorry if im being thick here but cant get my head around it.???????????? thanks

    Set-Up

I would put the cocks in first for a few days, get any fighting out the way first, then if your not bothered about how they pair, lock all the cocks in the boxes they have claimed then let your hens in,the next day the hens will have claimed a box and a cock, love matches are always easier on the fancier
  9. had a few birds sitting last season and were coming very good just to eggs, they won and topped the fed in the early races,so next race was huntingdon 180 miles to us,birds were a few days away from chipping out so i decided to trick a few with chipping eggs and slipping a few ybs from the stock under them on the friday after noon,BIG MISTAKE birds turned on the soft chuck and the race ended up being a very hot one,i was miles behined on a good day,i blame myself not the birds

    A WASTE OF MONEY

You took the words out of my mouth, Best ybs i have had reared on bramfords breed and ween, gemthepax, few beans and some sead as a treat now and then,2 or 3 times a wekk a splash of cod liver oil on the corn.

    corn

how do you find the birds handle after giving them 100% barley,i think im a bit soft with mine they are getting a good breeding mix but less, always wanting more.
  13. Good point there from frankdooman, the older the birds the wiser.i bought a pair a marcelis from Brian wall 10 years old now, they messed me about when paired together this season i crossed them out with younger partners, they both down spot on,and both filled there eggs first round,i only got 1 youngbird from them last season as i gave in waiting in the end.
  14. sounds like overweight hens to me,not sure if overweight cocks make any diferance the hen sould still lay, make sure 2/3 weeks before pairing the birds get at least 50% barley or have them on a depuritive for a few weeks before hand,i dont think its the weather as we have had very cold weather here in sunderland and all my birds went down spot on.i did have the same problem a few year ago and couldnt put my finger on why they wouldnt lay..
  15. in a few weeks time i will have a few selected ybs from all my best breeders for sale at £25 each, mostly R EVANS & SON,GGB,GRAHAM GILCHRIST & BREENAN.and a few of my own staf van reets,Burt hession and Pallats, these birds in such short time have bred me fed winners in the Sunderland premier fed and some great UNC positions. This is a genuine offer of good pigeons that will stand there own at the price of a few bags of corn. first come first served carl C & R GREENHOW ODDFELLOWS HS

  21. Yes theres a method poke it with a stick untill it does stand the way you want it ,then a bit editing tidying up the bird does the trick.
  22. Thanks very much chickadee,i use to design flyers for events ect for clubs, this is how i learnt to do pigeon pics, the hardest bits getting them to stand still.
