  5. I have a friend who went to use spot on (de-louser ) on his spaniels .he had 3 springers and 3 cockers . He believed he had to administer the spot on orally, but realy he had to put it on the nape of the neck and upon the animals rump. He poisoned his dogs killing 4 of them within 12 hours ...2 of them survived but were very ill indeed . This man is a senior contracts director for barrett homes. he had common sense in abundance having worked on the tools and all the way up to his senior managers post . This can happen to anybody if they listen to others long enough ,it seemed someone had joked to him a week earlier about giving this stuff to his dogs via- their food and he believed it to be gospel . Sad but true .. DAVID
  6. stb, Sadly i used it every second day ...and what a real low life i felt . David
  7. Hi Pete . This is one topic i can talk on that gave me disatserous consequences . I followed advice some five years ago (i was just starting the doo's)..from a very'credible and gifted fancier from the pigeonchat forum . I folowed the advice and quantities of virkon-s to give to my birds via the drinker . I must emphasise these guidlines were followed to the day and letter . Within 3 weeks i had a loft of pigeons that would not of looked out of place in auschwitz... I realised too late that i had poisoned my birds .I had to kill 11 and the rest never recovered as i lost many in training tosses .The damage was done so to speak . I spoke to a quality fancier last year who has won many ,many, great positions from club to national level. He could not believe it when i referred to the events with the virkon s some years back . He told me Never, never, Bleach,or disinfect your birds in any shape or form . When one realy gets to grips with this statement and sees it for what it means we all need our heads looked at if we should even think about the practice . Hope this helps mate . DAVID
  8. Just got your post cheq pied . If the potion is too bitter does one not just water it down further and treat for longer ? DAVID
  9. Thanks for your reply's chaps . Tony .I was more than interested to find out that this potion had bee trials tested on pigeons from various lofts with various readings of canker levels .I was led to believe through this field test that canker within 96 of a possible hundred pigeons had their tricho levels cut to zero ..the other four pigeons were given a stronger potion and the remaining four had zero canker levels after the further treatment. I have just found an article on where top flight race horses have been given this compound with great benefits where by intestinal parasite's have been more or less totaly eradicated. If this is true Tony then it would make sense that the facts are not truly advertised. What would all these company's selling natural not field tested remedies do then? Not an argument mate just an observation . I might be wrong here but do field test's take place with the likes of orego stim and such like? or does the punter just believe it anyway? DAVID
  10. i find it amazing that one asks a serious question on the forum and not a soul wants to talk sense!! or are we all at work ? Thanks anyway guys DAVID
  11. I have been looking for this product that is a plant extract (Berimax liquid) and is confirmed to diminish trico count in pigeons. I see reference to it on line but no sales contacts . Any one familiar with it?? Cheers all DAVID
  12. I should say i spoke to this guy about a bird of mine some time ago ..an absolute gentleman he was ,and i have lost his contact details . Thanks DAVID

  19. Hi Mate .. Thanks again for the advice ..I have made contact Via-email to a guy in cumbria but he says he is just the leaseholder of the ground ..I will keep trying .
  20. Hi boys . Thanks for your sensible reply's I will toss the doo's no problem as these things have to work both ways . I will even see what i can do with the barking cocker ..Barking is a problem and once established is a devil to eradicate .. somewhere along the way someone had to of reacted to the dog when it barked .Any reactio would be action enough for the dog to know he was pushing the right buttons .However, as a youngster he should of been given a thorough grounding in the sit ,stay, and recall,..this if done correctly would take 3 months to establish .(15 mins, morning .15mins, night) THIS IS THE PINNACLE AND BEDROCK OF ALL DOG TRAINING )if we do not school our youngpigeons we loose them very quickly as yearlings .it is exactly the same thing. Please remember though i was a dog trainer and not a dog psycologist.i will help if you are serious . Thanks boys and please talk to me if you can find me good rabbit ground .anything considered . david
  21. Thankyou mate . I will give it a go . DAVID
  22. Hi . This subject is not doo related but the patience of the forum members would be greatly received . I am looking for prime rabbit ground that would include rushes, bracken, heather ,or light grass with a good sprinkling of rabbits on to train my spaniels (gundogs ) The hard winter this year where i live has killed of most of my rabbit population and i am left redundant with no rabbits to school my young spaniels on I would be willing to negotiate on any level to borrow some nice ground for this purpose . This is just an of chance i ask that someone may know of somewhere to go. I am willing to travel anywhere in the country for this purpose . I live in aberdeenshire Many thanks all. DAVID
  23. Well done pete .I would adore such a ticket . Nice one mate DAVID
  24. Hi John . How sad i was when i looked at your post and like the few that have replied i would in someway like to help . Roughly where do you stay john ?My friend(bwf) and i are heading south from scotland in march and i am sure we would come and give some support in any way you require .What would your loft need to make it tighter in it's security .? How many youngsters would you need ? Their was a lovely offer by a kind man on this topic to help in light sensitive security .People do care . Think about it john, it will be a gesture of kindness and not a loan .It's up to you . I hope you dont mind me putting your name forward alan (bwf) you will have no problems with this i am sure . I know you as i do ,detest people with a passion who perpetrate such callous cowardly crimes . Keep well John DAVID
  25. Great! Somebody at last on my wavelength. if you tell my club members this one they disregard it as sore losing ,but one thing i do know is they dont fly from where i fly. I believe the bird (as you rightly say ) that has the savvy to break away from a massive contingent of birds and head for home, many miles from the main drag and dropping points deserve a serious watching for future success . as a beginner this is a win ...not a signposted jaunt up the eastcoast!! DAVID
