Dont know but very interested in what blood his birds carried as i know he had some serious results up to 900km. I have a bird here from the stud i purchased indirectly as a middle distance breeder but now believe there might be a chance he will breed me a bird to cope with many more hours on the wing ? DAVID .

  12. Hi all I will try and explain what has happened . A company has been called in to exterminate all feral pigeons that live or find there way into massive grain hangers in montrose docks area. My friend who is a foreman on these docks called to tell me he saw a very nice looking pigeon in one of the vermin cages and thought i may like to know. He advised me it was double rung and and the ring number was a Belgium reg . He told me the birds that are caught are then taken to a special van where they are gassed. This would happen at about 5pm and could i get down to montrose to collect it. I live an hour and a half away and just could not get their yesterday. However to cut a long story short !! He managed to get access to the Belgium rung pigeon and took it as far south as Edinburgh where he liberated it north of the forth road Bridge. This is where he lives . I called the owner who was pleased to know that the bird had had a second chance .(i told him his bird had been saved from death)..The way i saw it was that the bird had a better chance this way than leaving it to the vermin contractors ..Very sad i know but i did all i could under the circumstances. If it had not been the middle of the day i may of found a local fancier to help . I tried posting on the Banter site but did not get much info from there. I think it's sad people in general do perceive the racing pigeon in just the same way as the streeter ..VERMIN!! I dont believe that will ever change either. Anyway boy's that's the story.I hope this pigeon that scored well from Arbroath the week before for it's owner makes it home. DAVID

  15. I HAD A FRIEND CONTACT ME TODAY WHO TELLS ME VERMIN CATCHERS CAUGHT A BELG 2009 BIRD IN TRAP IN MONTROSE CORN STORE. THIS BIRD WILL BE EXTERMINATED BEFORE THE END OF THE DAY . I WILL GET RING DETAILS A.S.A.P BUT MEANWHILE CAN SOMEBODY PICK THIS BIRD UP AND FEED AND WATER IT. I LIVE AN HOUR AND HALF FROM MONTROSE AND CANT GET TO IT . ANYBODY HELP?? IF NOT THEN IT WAS WORTH A TRY. AS I SAY I WILL GET DETAILS POSTED AS SOON AS I CAN SO OWNER MAY BE FOUND( MIGHT BE A STOCK DOO ESCAPED) Cheers all DAVID
  16. Hi Mate. My birds have experienced almost identicle symptoms to what your birds have . I had them checked out with Ian cameron from manor court vet. The diagnosis was bacterial infections caused by rodent's All last year i open holed my birds and they were scraping around the ground so this would equate to the problem my birds experienced. I treated them with Med-pet4in1 powder and it cleared them up big time. I would say as long as you dont over use and dont treat while racing and feed a top class avaian specific probiotic (not yoghurt's and bull crap like that )it must be avian specific then you will have healthy birds. Can i ask you if you let your birds forage on the ground? If not i would tend to take a look at the loft and the inmate's it houses. I would surely say it's a strong case of bacterial infections.(If in doubt get a sample to your Vet ) David

  19. PIGEONMAN. With the upmost respect, the dynamics of training and racing pigeons up here is a world apart from the dynamics and situations encountered in worcester. I am not saying harder but it is very different. All the best DAVID
  20. GOD!!That's sickening as well. John.I have only had 7 from my 28 in total...22 darkie's and 6 naturals.21 gone . Robbiedoo. The youngsters hanging around are very dark cheq's and one has a couple of white flights along with white clip rings ...Defo' from the same loft and as fresh as daisies but flighty as hell. I will keep my eye on them as i am seeing the odd female sparrowhawk around now. This year has again been disasterous for the babby's. DAVID
  21. Hi John. Sad news that.I had the same last week with a toss 15 miles south west as the crow flys from roughly where you liberated your youngsters.
