  2. started going round the local lofts on a sunday morning aged 11,annoying all the fanciers most of whom were miners working in the local pits of which there were many at that time.wasnt long before they gave me birds & my uncle who was and still is a fancier built me my first loft with wood donated by another uncle also a fancier. that was 46 years ago, with only 2 short breaks from having the birds, one of which was at the start of this year.

  5. hi superstar, scotch king was a dark grizzle & scotch queen, a mealy .the barless blues & mealies i believe were an entirely different family.
  6. Hi,superstar,i dont know if this helps but a pigeon called "SCOTCH KING"won 1st open snfc.rennes 545 miles. for a Mr. Matt White of Paisley. this pigeon also was 3rd.& 9th open snfc in subsequent Rennes races. he also had a pigeon called "SCOTCH QUEEN". 1st open rennes snfc. 1980. Mr. White was an exponent of long distance pigeon racing& regularly timed from Palamos,Mirande ,Rochefort & San Sebastian all between 700-1,000 miles into Scotland. He also had a family of barless blues & mealies. hope this helps & may be the link your looking for. billy

  10. IN THE SIXTIES I BOUGHT KAREL HERMANS FROM MR & MRS BASIL BEEBE FROM HORNCASTLE, LINCS. I BELIEVE THAT ON THE DEATH OF KAREL HERMAN THEY RECEIVED MOST OF THE BIRDS & BELIEVE THEY WERE ONE OF THE MAIN SOURCES OF HERMAN PIGEONS IN THIS COUNTRY. THEY WERE A SPRINT/MIDDLE DISTANCE FAMILY,WITH ONE LINE WHICH WERE PURE BLACKS & WERE PARTICULARLY POPULAR AT THE TIME I"M REFERING TO IN THE NORTH EAST OF ENGLAND. DON"T SEE THEM ADVERTISED MUCH NOWADAYS THOUGH. AND TAMMY HERMANS HERMITS WERE CRAP!
  11. :-/my last shot tammy, i"ll say scott gibson :-/

  13. HI AARDEN,CAN I ASK WHAT REASON YOU WERE GIVEN TO AVOID PLYWOOD FLOORS?
  14. WELL IF AS YOU SAY HE/SHE IS A LOND DISTANCE FLYER NORMA,IT CAN ONLY BE A SCOT, SO I"LL GO FOR GARETH RANKIN ;) ;) ;D
  15. hi stuart, there was a gerald mcpherson who flew well a few years ago particularly in the snfc young bird nationals, seem to remember he flew into the arbroath area & his team at that time were the ANDRE CLEMENS pigeons.i then think he sold them off a few years ago,and dont know whether he still resides in scotland or not, maybe some of the forum members from that area can add to what i"ve said.obviously not sure if this is the person you are trying to contact, but is the only fancier i can think of with that surname.
