None of us know someone well enough to guarantee that the person writing the pedigree is being totally honest but this is something we have to live with.(Could always have a DNA test done).If we all felt this way no one would ever buy a y.b from the nest.At least we can buy older pigeons on their performances. I have bought pigeons from all over the world and met some lovely people,but i cannot gaurantee the peds are 100% correct,but i have never doubted any one of them.As far as i know and believe the peds of all my birds are 100% true.

The "race basket" is what makes the pedigree.If birds win nationals it makes the parents super breeders.anything they breed after that now has a top pedigree,being brother/sister to a national winner.And birds with multiple wins produce youngsters with a top pedigree. top pedigrees contain either top performance pigeons or top breeders. This does not give any guarantee that the breeders of a national winner will breed another top pigeon,or indeed that a top racer will breed a winner.

Like Stuart i see my birds as a team.Unfortunately no sentiment involved here,therefore i cannot see them as pets.As much as i love every one of them,every season they are flying or breeding for there lives.I am a hard taskmaster and give a lot of my time and effort in getting them prepared and conditioned for breeding and racing,therefore i do expect results from them.

Hi MAC1, IF it will be possible to swap with someone who lives within 100 miles of London and we could meet halfway and swap birds then count me in also.But i do not want to use couriers,as good pigeon friendships can be formed when meeting up for a drink,chat and swap birds. Yes,you are right Terry,someone got a bargain there,especially as tony Mardon only put Toeys' Gold to top hens. Hence my question on who was the Dam. Toeys' Gold is at my loft.He is an incredible looking and handling bird,and his youngsters are extremely strong (Just ask Lister).His blood is responsible for an amazing number of winners at all levels,Just look at his brothers and sisters. Toeys star,Toeys Fantastic, Red God etc.Birds that many fanciers have founded their lofts on. The Mardon Van Reets are not as "fashionable as some other strains,hence reflected in their prices,but as you and i know Terry they compete with the best of any strain and are extremely dual purpose,from 50 to over 500 miles.

In the Reusel area Henk van limpt de prut has a Janssen family cultivated from original Janssen birds also a young guy who visits Janssens almost daily to help with the pigeons named Luc Van Mechelan has a loft of pure Janssen pigeons.Pouw Bros also have based their loft on 26 original direct Janssen birds. Best pool of purest Janssen bloodlines i know of in England belong to Mr Tony Bates of Rugeley.

Me to.Sent 41 to Retford, won club doing 1050 ypm.But only 30/41 back up until now.Race was 130 miles and first bird 12:07 its now 5:45pm.Hope they all make it either tonight or tomorrow.

Premier lofts stud in Hull also have a nice family of pure direct Janssens. A lot of the answers on this thread are recommending fanciers that are racing Janssen crosses,which is fine if that is what Frank wants.

Without doubt the best pure gene pool of Janssen bros pigeons in the U.K are owned by "Mr Janssen" Tony Bates of Rugeley West Midlands. He is a Janssen enthusiast and only has pure Janssens,if any other strain is mentioned on the pedigree Tony will not have it.He doesn't race so he will sell you whatever you wanted.He has also visited Janssen bros on many occasions. Best breeding Janssen cock in the world at the moment is Jan van der pasch's Lowieke. I know Tony has this line and we are winning regularly with our Lowieke pigeons. Jim Newton (Head & Newton)
