Rabbit I'm not an expert on the subject but pairing at that time of the year I would think that they would shed all their body feathers , but after 8 to 10 Weeks coming of the darkness they would start to cast flights which defeats The purpose,my young are on darkness but I don't pair up until the 14 th February I'm afraid I don't see any benefit of pairing that early .just my opinion .

2 amiss out of 20 one I thought had a promising future (2 year old ) Other a yearling.

I would have thought that pairing up at that time of year Why would u keep them on darkness till June that's 6 Months surely 8 to 10 weeks is enough to see them through The body moult,that being the objective ???.

Hi Do you have a breaking cage that they can see their surroundings ? You won't learn If you don't ask .there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to race them ,and I would always transfer any bird you get as if it is reported it is you that it will be reported to and Not the person you got it from .good luck .
