Hi guys Do you all remember our last game against France..... Well despited calls for the public beheading of Thiery Henry, the buycot of baguettes, garlic & berets, and finally the siege of the French embassy.... the French still robbed us of our place in South Africa. Well heres a small chance to get one up on them for a change........ 1. To vote for Sillogue Darkie type into Google Ashbrook stud or go to the website http://www.ashbrookstud.ie 2. Go to the very bottom right hand corner of the page where it is highlighted in green. 3. Here you will see a poll for Pony of the Decade, here you must pick five and it is one vote per computer, so email it on if you can the more the merrier. 4. Please pick Sillogue Darkie and 4 other Irish Horses. - April Star, Castle Comet, Castle Countess & Castle Urchin. Thanks Graham

Hi guys, A friend of mine has a Connemara Pony which he show jumps for Ireland at Eupopean events. This pony has been placed in an on-line Poll for pony of the decade and he has asked for help to win this. He is currently third having fallen behind in the last day or two to his great French rival Dexter, so he needs as many votes as he can get. Could each of you help out by following the instructions below - it takes two minutes at most. 4. Please pick Sillogue Darkie, and less challenging rivals Castle Baron, April Star, Alladin’s Denver, Castle Comet Thanks Graham Kelly

Hi guys - are we not over complicating things a bit regarding feeding. Its my understanding that carbs, fat or proteins all contain energy. Whatever the body does not use will be converted and stored as fat. This leads me to believe it is all just a matter of balancing exercise, trainning and feeding to get the bird into the condition you believe is best to send it to the upcoming race!! Braspenning always claims he uses the same mix everyday and just alters the amount fed due to birds requirements. Maybe Im miles off the mark!

Willing to look at either new or second hand. If second hand it will need to be in good condition. I bought an 19ft x 8ft last year and intended buying the second one this year from the same guy. The extra 5 ft is costing £600 extra this year so looking around for alternatives

Hi - I am looking to buy a 24ft x 8ft shed. Can go anywhere in Ireland north or south. Does anyone know where I can buy one. Thanks Graham

A big bucket for any individual weaklings who get sick when the rest of the flock is healthy....... Will treat in the following order before pairing: Salmonella - Baytril 12 days Vaccinate Worms - Ivormectin 1 day Cocci - Baycox 2 days Treat birds for canker while sitting eggs with Emtryl. For the rest of the season I will only have Rondizonole 10% for Canker and Tylan for respiratory treatments if needed. No fancy vitamins, probiotics, etc used. Small amounts of mixed grit given fresh every day. SMA gold baby powder on corn and honey in water on return from race. Fresh Blended Garlic on corn & Cider Vinegar in water Sunday to Tuesday. Sedocol in water on Wednesday. Thats the plan I am trying to stick to this year.

Not sure if garlic oil is the best way to give it - apparently allicin does not last long so garlic has to be given fresh. Any heat treatments to garlic is also supposed to suppress the allicin content. I crush my garlic cloves with a garlic press bought in Ikea - it can then be added to water or across food.

when are you pairing up folks
Graham Kelly replied to ritchie1's topic in Breeding, Strains & Families
Christmas eve for me!! Gotta get lights set on timers two weeks before handand do all the necessary treatments. -
I don't see why any of the products mentioned would be an issue. I find sticking SMA powdered baby milk to the corn gives them everything they need with regards vitamins, minerals etc.

I'm assuming that if they are being prepared for the channel that they are already trainned and fit with possibly 2/3 land races in their wings. I think its just a case of tuning them up again if they are on eggs just give them 3 or 4 short tosses back to them around 15 - 25 miles. Thats how I do it for channel racing from England to Ireland (150-250mls). Graham

how long for pairing birds
Graham Kelly replied to philipchambers1989's topic in Breeding, Strains & Families
If they havent layed within 15-16 days max, then theres something amiss. Split them for a week at that stage becuase constant driving by the cock will take alot our of them. Graham -
Hi - I have paired up early in past years but discovered that I always end up with more from the second round left. I think this is down to the fact that they are younger when I start training them and learn easier. I have heard others say that early bred means they need to be trained early aswell. Graham
