  1. Finally got a 1st this season, Came 1st + 2nd from Bovingdon, 120 miles! (:
  2. Yeah I think that maybe the one xD Anyone near to that?
  3. Hi, The Rpra said the pigeon was in northumberland, the gentleman i spoke to said it was in Newcastle Upon Tyne so a little confused, All i know it's at a stray centre if that helps?
  4. Hi all, I've had a pigeon reported in Northumberland today, It's a young bird and I'm from sheffield, Anyone from around there? If so can someone please PM me? Thank you in advance andy! (:
  5. If you lose a bird and it takes over a week to come back thats no good, The owner should always be contacted to be let known the where abouts if his bird and the condition, any decent person would care
  6. I didn't say arguing with me, I said arguing the point how pigeon flyers are responsible when you know full well they aren't thats why pigeon men have such a bad name, All they wanna do when they get reported is fob you off with some rubbish some way or another! I do race pigeons, and the stories fellow club members have used just so they don't have to send for birds is just ridiculous
  7. 'I think youll find 99% of pigeon keepers are responsible for their birds' Not according to this site there not, Don't be so stupid to try and argue that, 9/10 pigeon keepers don't want to pay for nothing, They constantly moan about the price of corn never mind the price of sending for there own birds back! But like i stated above, If the bird has your ring on.. it's your responsibility.
  8. I am a new starter, everyone should be responsible for there birds, If a pigeon is wearing your ring you should sort it. asking someone to kill a pigeon for making one mistake is out of order in my opinion, If some one goes to making an effort to reporting your pigeon the least you can do is make the effort back. I'm not saying send for everyone pigeon you have reported, but sometimes that's the only way but most times a rest and a drink and something to eat will see the bird back on its way! this year we have had some terrible races, the amount of stray birds i've had in is unreal, none of which i have killed. all have made there way some way or another. Pigeon racing isn't a cheap sport, And if if sending for a pigeon is the only option you have, then that's what you got to do. I had a pigeon reported in Germany, I was willing to send for that as it was my bird and therefor my responsibility
  9. If you can't afford to send for your lost pigeons then don't train or race them and risk loosing them! Some people who actually care about there birds would like to have birds reported! Idiots who say 'kill it' Just give us decent pigeon flyers a bad name!
  10. Thank you, I am! If it's anyones fault that they didn't win it's my own, im far to slow when it comes to clocking in!
  11. Hey, Thank you everyone for advise, This week i saw a great difference in my birds! Sent 10 in one club and 17 in another, In the club i sent 10 in i was 3rd, about 15secs behind the winner! and in the other club i was 2nd, If i'd have got my bird in the clock he would have easy won! I got one on it's own then got 6 together, They came smashing i couldn't have hoped for them to come better! I think it's safe to say that there isn't nothing wrong with them, Maybe they've just been waiting to come onto form!
  12. Again, Thanks for you replies it's good to hear over people opinions, If i mentioned this to many local fanciers, I get the same 'argh there badly' 'they've got yb' Had them on training today, Came like bombs! let the cocks go 1st, Then hens go after, Got the cocks back and the hens 3mins later!
  13. Thanks for your reply's, And i use popcorn maize because they came well on it last year and like i stated before i wasn't planning on changing a good method, And as for the pigeons aren't good enough, who knows? I can only try with them. they are all bred and of good pigeons, so i would think at least one or two should be up for racing. Hi, Cheers for your reply, And no. I don't treat blind, It's a waste of time i like to treat if they are actually ill with something, I will take your advise, Thank you!
  14. won both with old and young, and i did better with young birds, Which its the yb season now! i would think they are motivated, and like i said ealier, same method as last year!
  15. I dont toss in the same place as anyone in my club + the loft location is pretty near one who won it one week and it's no where near the other guys!
  16. I have already sent one off, came back all clear. I know it sounds daft making this post but i thought maybe there could be something that the test didn't wouldn't find.
  17. i feed a mix of corn with popcorn maize, I used this last year, And prized from 74mile - 195mile So i think i can rule the corn out
  18. Mine have been on darkness yeah, Same as most fellow club members, They had about 12 tosses before the 1st race, Same as most club members, I am the only club member at the min with hens and cocks parted of, I did this last year and made me have some good results, and as i see it, when you find a method that works, stick with it.
  19. Not been funny, But i know what i'm doing when it comes down to feeding them. This isn't my 1st year, I raced last year. Prizing from every single young bird race, Using the same corn and methods that i'm using now. I'm not sure of the price of the corn but it's some what i get from my local corn store with popcorn maize, can't even think of the name of the top of my head.
  20. Of course i do,my routine is down to the minute, Nothing is ever out of place weather permitting ofc, If i was planing on letting them out at 7, And it was raining but starting to clear i'd hold them in until it steadys down.
  21. Actually i never looked at it like that, I saw i was behind for 2 weeks on the trot so i just thought that there might be something up with there, Never mind, see how they come this week!
  22. Cheers for that, Just where i am, If they aren't there to win People make me paranoid and say how they must be ill! Was just wanting someone to shine the light to be honest!
  23. They haven't had top amount's of training, But look at the weather don't think anyone has managed to get the training in they wanted. Thanks for your reply though.
  24. Hi all!! Basically, We have had 2 young bird races this season, the 1st one the winner was in at 10:04 and i didn't get one until 10:24! The 2nd race the winner for one club was in at 9:34, My 1st bird came at 9:38 (managing to get 4th) and for the other club, the winner was in at 9:33 and i didn't get one until 9:42! both races where from the same race point, Kettering (74miles) My bird fly spot on, The look fine and there droppings are fine, even sent a testing kit of and that said that they was 100% healthy!! Does anyone out there think that there could be something wrong with them? If so, Let me know i'd really be grateful!!
  25. This was our 1st young bird race, Hope they get better!
