i always wean my youngsters around 22 days in racing section, stock shed they can be left anything upto 25 days sometimes i even leave them longer.Once weaned in every corner of my yb shed there will be some good thick layers of wheat straw. Then i just leave the top of thw drinker for a few days till im satisfied there drinking. For feeding theres a hopper in there most of the time but taken out before it goes dark, they are fed on 100% breeding mix.Once theyve all started feeding i change my feeding and add barley.once theyve started perching they start getting a rationed diet 1oz morning 1 oz evening as there still growing. Also the drinker will be removed at feeding times so they just dont have a few grains and clear of upto there perch.I also give a couple of hand fulls of grit. But this time when i start to get them tame once theyve started perching fighting with them in there boxes by grabbing there beaks ect.
Before breeding i treat the birds by giving baytril usually about 10 days before first september for 5 days of that i mix it with a good multi vit and on the 11 day i jab them for the prevention of paratyphoid using sal-bac.When jabbed them it should be at least a month before you intend to pair them up.I always treat for canker as well before the breeding season .I always give multivits 2-3 days after any treament i do,aswell as that couple of days of garlic on the food
