Hello andy you need as much education as possible mate, id like to get them to at least one time at 30 miles before first race, Don't rush the young birds worse thing you can do, you have plenty of time, and alot of my young birds i give there first race at 114 miles. BUT EDUCATION IS THE KEY, only the well educated pigeons i send to the first race here at 58 miles, and the following one at 74 miles. Don't rush, slowly slowly, catch a monkey! My promising cocks will get as much education as possible, they will maybe go to 3-4 races upto 130 mile, then all the rest will be sent on throughout the programme. Cock birds i feel need the education of the race. Take your time young birds are your future, STRICT SELECTION will make alot of people better fanciers. Choose a point that you want your young birds to achieve, and select from that may it be consistency back to the loft, may have to reach a certain position in club level, you all make your own selection. P.S a yb on saturday, which is a half brother to one of your ybs i bred you andy was 2nd club on saturday. ;)
