Aye W.D.Wullie was a character awe right, when he flew the birds he always won his share, he also flew in partnership with a guy by the name of Eddie Kitzman [aka eddie the pole]and there were some laughs. One race day Wullie went to the loft to watch for the y/bs returning only to find Eddie had taken down the y/b loft. The loft was directly in front and just below the gantry of the o/b loft, and as Eddie explained to wullie that the y/bs are always on the said o/b gantry anyway then they could just use the empty compartment there, and as wullie was goin apeshit the birds began to arrive, well you can imagine the rest.Wullie also showed Bantems successfully and raced the Grayhounds and there are many stories still told in Jed.There were lots of characters then who flew the doos and Jed was a big club 30/40 members with great cameraderie and craic on the friday and saterday nights.Sadly missed now with Jed only havin abt 8 flying members now.

Icouldnt say for sure, but in our club we had Hammy Sloans brother wullie.I know hammy came down to Jedburgh often to visit Wullie and exchanged pigeons with some of the members, mainly Russel-Bros who were very good flyers at that time.
