If you have never had pigeon pox then why would you say my returns would be sht, when you vaccinate a pigeon on back of the neck you are giving that bird the pox, the only differance is the lesion appears on back of neck and with the scratch and hard brush method the lesion is on top of leg.The outward appearance and vitality of the said bird is normal,my pigeons have not been vacc for pox[ they will nxt year] therefore the lesions have appeared on the lower and upper mandabill and also in some cases the aye cere. That is why i know i have pox in my loft also i know i was 10mns behind again and yes had 38/38.

SORRY met to say putting up a picture is a bit difficult, you see am a technophobe as far as computors go but hey maby one day, but i do know wot pigeon pox looks like and how it effects a pigeon.

Billy have your pigeons ever had pox, well this is the first time mine have had it. Apparently its a commin over here.I have been told more than once you understand [because am a cynical bstrd]that almost all lofts get it at sometime and continue racing the birds that dont show signs of the lesions and it takes approx 3wks before the bird is back to full health.Unfortunatly am gona have to wait and see how it pans out.Maby next week al just say hey guys av won, but then a would be tellin porkies.

Dont realy know if they have been in contact with recently vacc doos, i wouldnt think so though as we dont have y/b racing here and all birds are usualy vacc at same time around january.
-
Will see if i can get hold of the nifuramycin, got to try something. The stange thing is the birds look a picture and raced all the way to the loft today and looked like they had just taken a turn round the loft.My only observation is that they dont appear to excersise around the loft with the same urgency as they were doing a few weeks ago. Thanks for the suggestion Mr Boswell. Yes they have been getting a midweek toss Sapper, takes them no more than 40mns.

Thay are racing crap Sapper, 4 out of the 5 races av been 10/15mns behind although my returns have been excellent.Just cant put my finger on it, hoping its something to do with the pigeon pox and it will clear up in a couple of weeks. Thanks Buster.

Basketed for Guarda 246ml last night, sent 48 and hope they come better than they have previously.Discovered a week past wednesday some of my yearling cocks had pigeon pox which explains why the lofts been 10mns of the pace recently, anyway digits crossed for a better result this week.

Timed 11.14, returns so far 27/30.Been a good steady race but the latecomers are soaking wet.
-
The birds were libbed at Torres Novas at 8.05 in a west wind distance 173mls.Ive sent 30 nd hope the come better than last week.

Fantastic post from mrBoswell, its answered a lot of questions as i along with my partner suffered the same probs with Massarella 4/5 yr ago.We ended up disposing of at least 2 thirds of our y/b team and Massarella took no responsibility what ever stating that because my pertner said he was happy with the birds when they arrived the were know longer the studs responsibility.

We have very few holdovers hotrod, although mist and rain its not cold, but understand where your comin from i raced in scotland for 50yr and even on good days some had to blame someone or something for their poor returns, and weve all had them and all done it.lol
-
Clocked 5.05, first bird a yearling cock. First 5 were cocks and so far got 18/25, its been a horrible start and today was a sh-- of a day, its been low cloud with rain and mist all day the birds got a righy soaking. But roll on nxt week.lol [Doo men are mad]

-
2nd race today from sardoal 163ml, birds libbed 8.40 and i clocked 12.22. weather was strong s/west head wind with thunder which was to the north of me and birds would be meeting it. although i could see and hear the thunder i only had intermitant showers but the wind is very strong. So far i have 37/44 and as i post this the rain mixed with hail is tipping down.[the lovely algarve weather lol]
-
Birds were libbed in decent weather but were meeting the bad stuff en-route,has to be realy bad before you have a holdover. there are bop but they seem to be moved on if they become a problem.!!!I think a headwind in first race combined with heavy rain at 165ml is asking your yearlings some serious questions considering there are no y/b racing here.Never mind there is always next week and i can try again.
-
Very hard race for opener,so far 41/48 and they are still coming.
-
Our first race of 2013 starts today from Nisa 165ml, THE birds were libbed at 9am into a stong s/east headwind and down here we have the above wind and rain.Ifeel we are in for a stinker.
