Thanks for the advice. After taking another look. The damp is caused by coming up through the floor, so the next thing for me to do is move the loft by a few feet and raise it.

At the moment the floor of my loft is brushed with loft white and them has a light sprinkling of sawdust all over. I find that this clumps together alot in damp areas in the corner of my loft and doesnt dry out that much. Does anyone reccomend using straw on the floor instead?

Hi Tommy, Your feed is normal wild bird seed. Try that stuff from the feed place in Happisburgh, I get mine from there, friendly people and low prices. Just ask for Pigeon economy mix.

Every once in a while my birds seem to be producing terracotta coloured dropping? Is this normal? What colour should there droppings be? Thankyou

Hi Tommy, Remember what happened to the 15 or so pigeons I was given when I started off? I think you might be better of breeding from them as theyre already paired up.

Im not sure, but it could even be the pair that was in my loft before. The cock (from what i've heard) should be sitting in the day, but is very young. This is probly why it is not sat on.

I got 2 pairs for breeding yesterday to add to my loft which already has 2 pigeons in. Walked into the loft this morning (i havent placed nestboxes, bowls, or nest material in there) and there is a single egg in the corner, without a pigeon sat on it. What do i do????

I dont know how, but one of my birds has learned how to jump out of the entrance to a sputnik trap. If there anyway to stop this? thankyou.

What is do as mine are all young birds and i want them to become tame and associate me with food and home, is to make up a small 2 foot by 2 foot table and place a handfull of feed on it at a time untill they leave a bit, i do this in the morning and in the afternoon when they return from being let out. after a while they will actually start eating out of your hand. I put the feed in a tin can when i am in the loft, so they know the noise, this traps them quicker as whenever they hear the noises they think "yummmy, food!" ;D good luck

Thanks for the generous offer, but i have already be offered a few birds from local fanciers. They are both racers. Because the one i originaly had was too old to be ringed, i was going to get another pigeon and breed from the pair. This new one looks like a cock as he had a squarer head and he drags his tail. My old one was a hen. I am not sure but i was originaly given 8 youngbirds, 7 of them didnt come back i seem to remember 1 or 2 of them being white, maybe this is the one. It defineately looks like a racer but looks a bit smaller becuase maybe it didnt feed aswell. (i am not really sure) I get my rings soon, so i hoped to pair these and see what happens. Is all this a good idea?

Hi, I only have 1 pigeon (the others didnt come back) this one hasnt been coming back for aroud 2 weeks at a time for the past 2 months. :'( Today he came back, but he brought another bird with him, the bird is young, isnt ringed, and looks farely clean, the droppings are normal colour. 8) The question is do i keep it? :-/ And how can i get them to come back quicker? :-/ (he used to take around 8 hours of being let out a day) and most people say about 45 mins is normal. I'm beggining to think he has been out on the pull for Valentines day.
