    rats in the sky

95% of pigeons seen by folk are the streeters, mention pigeons and they immediately think of what they're accustomed to. I feel the only way to separate our racers from those seen by the public is to give pigeon racing a whole new name, instead of us referring to what we race as pigeons call them doves, paloma’s duivens something along these lines. You’ll not change the publics perception of pigeons, be much easier to change their perception of our racers.
  5. With our defence it doesn't matter who takes over the reins, silk purse out of a pig's ear and all that. Money is whats needed.

  11. Part of this great game for me is picking out a yearling that you think has a little something about it, a fancy. This years fancy is a medium size blue cock (779), he's the type that gives you the eyes lol watching me watching him. Will he live up to expectations or have I gone and put the dreaded kiss of death on him, time will tell

  19. Think we race lightweights compared to years gone by. In our search for speed the pigeons constitution has suffered.
  20. I look to get mine going around the 14-15C mark but even then if there's any east in the wind they'll stop at home.
  21. Two of the biggest threats to pigeons nowadays are paratyphoid and streptococci so I always have Baytril and Amoxicillin to hand. Have also treatments against worms, cocci & canker if needed. Have three addatives which are Impact, Gemthepax & cider vinegar Disinfectants used are Jeyes & Virkon-S

http://www.raileasy.co.uk/go/terms-and-conditions/national-conditions-of-carriage/appendix Animals 11. You may take dogs and small animals with you into the passenger accommodation of trains. Animals, with the exception of blind or deaf persons’ assistance dogs at the discretion of the steward, may not be taken into buffet or restaurant cars. You should apply for such permission at least 48 hours before you travel. 12. A fee not exceeding half the adult fare for your journey is charged for each additional animal in excess of a passenger’s free allowance. 15. 25. Perhaps someone that has raced this system would be better to advise than myself. Cutting & pulling....... the last 2 flights have to be cut around 4 inches below the tip of flights 9 &10 some 10-14 days before you pull these flights out. This has to be done sometime before the commence of racing in enough time to allow them to grow back. Sorry its all a bit sketchy but when I heard you had to pull flights out I didn't look into it any further.
