  1. If you mean they were liberated at 12-35 today then you could have a good but hardish race, I have just driven from Whitstable to Ramsgate and although the wind appears to be light sw the visability is absolutely brilliant. Good luck to everyone. How you boys get birds into the North of Wales & Anglesey with that terrain amazes me.
  2. Whoops---must have a nervous twitch. :-/
  3. No o fence taken!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D
  4. No o fence taken!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D
  5. They're nothing to crow about. : : :o :D
  6. Know what you mean, I had similar happen on my cockerel weather vane, I think it was a sparrowhawk it was on the cockerals back spinning round with the vane & trying to cover it with its wings. Do you think it was a short sighted bird trying to mate ? ;D ;D ;D
  7. North East Kent Fed up at Newark at 6 am

  11. North East Kent Fed birds up at Goole at 7am.
  12. Ian Hunt rang me to tell me his Dad passed away this morning, he was a very close friend of mine visiting my loft every week. What a massive void it will leave in ours and many friends lives. One of the founder members of the BICC and very involved in its formation. A really, really genuine friend. Deepest heartfelt sympathies to Annie and Ian. Terry & Marge.
  13. Whilst I agree with you in short races I think its a bit different for the long'ns, after 600 miles a bird is normally on its own especially if you are the longest flier in the race. If a bird takes on the sea on its own after that many miles it is not only a very very special bird but I think I can help them by training them to do it whilst they are fresh. Anyway Hyacinth I am just so thankful to see one home that I really could'nt give a monkies if they are racing the last few miles !!!! Just my three penneth. Happy new year.
  14. No Ray I don't think it would make any difference. I think what is needed is a lot of single ups from say Colchester but to drive there is about a 200mile round trip & all you would get is approx 40 mile toss.
  15. Lerwick to me 614 miles. I dont think its liked in this part of East Kent because of the early liberations & also that last bit of water from say Southend to Ramsgate, why that short stretch should make any difference after crossing 2/400 miles of water beats me --- but it certainly does. Last year after the race I discovered that I was the only entrant in section G of the NRCC to send to Lerwick --- not much fun competing against yourself !!. I have now resigned but would certainly consider joining again if there was a few more sending from east Kent.
  16. Just turning slushy & horrible now Rose, it looks as though Speight has got plenty you can have.!!!!
  17. We've been clearing it from here & dumping it at the end of your lane Ray ---- we like to try & help.!!

  22. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from the Isle of Thanet. Terry.
  23. Hyacinth, Small world eh. The Marines are not there any longer, the barracks have been converted to private dwellings.
  24. Hello Fifer, Have watched the marine bands at Deal, The wife & I go there often.I live about 8 miles away at Minster near Ramsgate. Certainly a very convenient place to live if you pop to France or Belgium --- I've only been probably half a dozen or so times in my life !!!. Do you remember much about the area?.
  25. Here I am Ray, Its the wife I,m chasing round the garden--- only to get her winnings though !!! She won £65 the first week £37 the next week, she told other club members that she has almost got enough to leave me. Just as well that I won the £15 club card myself or she would have already left !!! LOL
