I travel up and down the country everyday and am always saddened by the number that get hit by cars and lorries when they are exhuasted! I believe that most missing pigeons get themselves killed within a short space of time. Stuart

Classic from Berwick this week, sent 30 birds and we have never ventured this far north before and with Fraserburgh and Thurso around the corner things are starting to get interesting!!! Stuart

Hi Louella has indeed paid the highest public recorded price. Seem to remember that a Kuypers Bros hen called Beatrix was sold privately for over £100,000. More recently a pigeon called Super Ben was sold for an undisclosed amount way in excess of £100,000 to a Taiwen business man. Wim Van De Velden of Boskoops turned down £110,000 last year for his Barcelona winner and let her stay in the loft!!!! A brave man. Stuart

Hello Mate There is a loft near Bristol called J&T Ellis. Jos died a few years ago but Tim still flys a good distance pigeon. Jos and Tim have purchased over the years the absolute finest Van Hee pigeons direct from Van Hee, paying many thousands for them. They have bred many winners for other people including the famous Fear Brothers of Clandown. If your intrested i could probaly track his number down. Regards Stuart Wilcox

The problem the WOESRC has got is the Race Controller doesnt like the North Road option so he doesnt send and doesnt want to waste his weekend so chucks them up. The Conveyor is just as bad, he has got his *expletive removed* in hands because he isnt getting extra money to go over to France. Not good for one of Englands biggest Combines. Stuart

Midsomer Norton/Bath is gloriuos! Lerwick club pigeons up at 6.35am from Ripon! I bet the WOESRC fanciers who had there pigeons liberated yesterday have a further gut twister when they see the weather today. Shame on you Bloor! Stuart

After 3 years of uncertainty in my life on a personnel and career front I am finally ready to return to the fold of pigeon flying on my own. I have for the last 2 seasons been flying in partnership and my partner recently informed me he intends to leave the sport so I have a busy few months finding a house with a suitable garden and deciding on lofts, pigeons etc. A completely fresh start, well nearly I already have a super team of pigeons but that’s where it ends. If you were in my position what route would you take with regard to lofts, systems, numbers of birds etc? I have one basic aim and that’s to win a national so my team needs to Fly Nantes, Dax and Pau. In my experience pigeons that succeed from Nantes and Pau tend to be totally different so do I need too teams, is widowhood my only option? Time wise I leave for work at 7.30 am so that gives me 11/2 hours in the morning and about 2 hours in the evening. In terms of Racing YBs they have never been a priority as I like to educate them and let them go so darkness isn’t a must for me. So put yourself in my shows, what would be your advice if you done it all again. Regards Stuart Wilcox

Hello Alan My post wasnt directed at any one individual i just think that this is an open forum and all views are welcome. I have already seen on another forum site that when people are made to feel they have no right to post or express an opinion then the forum starts to decline. As for me i believe we are all equals and so we should be regardless of success, we all pay our subs and fees and all have the same aims and dreams!! Lets keep this a happy place and interesting place. Stuart

Why is everyone having a go at Mike? This site is a forum to which you can openly exspress your veiws and opinions and if they differ from another then so be it!!!!! If people want to send emails then send them thats your right my only advice would be, keep them civil!!! Stuart

To me the Staf Van Reet pigeons that came out of Bert Hessions loft were best the UK has ever seen for winning big National, Classic and Combine races from 200-400 miles. He turned many fanciers into champions ie Rod Baxter, Alwyn Hill, Gary Downing, Ian Stafford, Mr Mrs Emberson, Jimmy and Sue Dickens etc etc. I bought his pigeon in 1999 and they won from the 1st race and showed me just how good pigeons could be!!!! I paid bert around 1700 pounds for pigeons, unfortunately for me i split with the misses in 2003 and was stupid enough to sell the birds at auction, they made over 30,000 pounds!!!!!!! I regret it every day despite the money!!!!! I feel somedays like i lost children i would never let that happen again!! Stuart Wilcox

We turned a team of 55 pigeons from south to north including are best National and Classic channel pigeons, we have trained them wisely knowing that they were changing direct and joined the local North Road Club so that are pigeon would be going up with experienced and confident pigeons. At the moment i think we have lost 9 out of that 55! Its the weather not the route!!!!! Stuart
-
I too believe it to be Minstead, but we will be staying north now i think! Regards Stuart

In our club you have to drink 5 pints of scrumpy cider, talk so much sh** as possible, tell at least 20 lies and mention 15 strain names every friday and saturday or your not allowed to send the following week!!! Basket the birds togeter, and then hit the bar together that is my motto! Stuart Wilcox

If it states in the deeds of a property "no poultry and livestock" does that mean i cant keep pigeons there. One fancier already keeps pigeons in this road. Stuart Wilcox

Ben I for one have had enough of the NFC so im going do my bit and try and get on the commitee, i dont know how you go about it though!!!! Stuart

Split the country into North East, North West, Midlands West, Midlands East, Soth West, South East. First 3 races are region races! to suit each region. Next 3 races split section to suit and called Semi National North (east/west) ??????, Folkstone, Piccauville, Midland(east/west) Portland, piccauville, Messac South(east/west) Messac, Nantes, Saintes Next 3 races would be open to the entire country Nantes, Dax (int), Pau(int) It would work and im shore you would have birdages up to 40,000 birds in some races!!!!! Still and clubs and combine within the above system. It would be cheaper and we could give more publicity to the winners!!!!!! Stuart

Dave that my point we dont have a true National North or South just smaller versions of it!!! S

Dear All I have been for a while a little bit alarmed just how easy the word National is used in England. Currently we have National races with the BBC, BICC, NFC, NWGN, MNFC and the UNC. Now in my opinion a National by definition is a race that is open to an entire Nation which would include the NFC, BBC and BICC but what gives the UNC, MNFC, NWGN the right to call a race a National because i for one cant enter! The BICC are a fine club by also now are running National races on a near weekly basis and the BBC has such a low membership base that its hard to call it a National in the way the Belguims do. We also then have National races with under 2000 pigeons on a regular basis and i dont think this is healthy for the sport. Ofcoarse one of the big problems is the NFC which should be our premier NATIONAL organisation are a mess and dont really cater for fanciers north of Birmingham. In my mind England needs to revamp National Flying across the board so that a National (maybe split into zones) can attract the right support and the massive birdage a true English National deserves. Maybe the RPRA should lead this??? Many breeders and racers in the UK claim they are the winners and breeders of x amount of National winners, but if i as an everyday fancier didnt have chance to compete against this pigeon because of my location then it cant be a National. Fact; any club that has a boundry short of an entire Nation does have the right to call a race a National regardless of birdage and quality of competition. The MNFC BICC BBC UNC NWGN our all fine clubs and very hard clubs to win but it doesnt mean they are really true nationals. Stuart Wilcox

A guy in the club last nite told me he had only 2 away!!!! I saw him this morning and he must have forgotten our conversation last nite as he told me what a bad race it was and that he still had 7 away. There aint a beter liar than a pigeon flier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stuart

HI MIKE Had a funny race but won 1st and 2nd with too latebreds (Van Den Abeele from Anton Ruitenberg), they were way out in front, plenty away on the night, we had 49 out of 56 back!!!!! Stuart
-
46 out of 56 so far! 160 mls and the first pigeon was on 4 hours. Some bad returns into the South West for the North Roaders! The funny thing is we sent 20 Latebreds and 18 are home!!!!! Stuart
