Steve I agree with what you said in a prior post, good long distance pigeons are very hard to find and they only have so many trips in them so it easy to see why fanciers would want to send them to the best possible race and in the UK that has to be Pau (Tarbes) National!!! Even the very best distance flyers have only a small team of winning pigeons and this is why the BICC Barcelona National in the UK isnt the most attractive challenge!!! Just my thoughts Stuart

Ive told our combine sect to let there birds at Marmande go now before ayone tells them different, they were due to go tomorrow!!! One thing is true!!! History tells us that Long Distance origin pigeons remain fertile longer than shorter distance families. This is a general statement of course but every pigeon has a best before date as as its approuched them the quality drops. With Raymond Moleveld we own some 300 pairs of breeding and many are from 1993, 94 and 95. Now they are breeding super youngster but when you compare them to there much older brothers and sisters you often see they are just a little less developed however these pigeons posses super gens and often make terrifc breeding pigeons. De Tovenaar is still breeding well and he is 14 years old but i wouldnt expect him produces too many 1st prize winners but for sure his g-children will win many races over the coming years in Holland and Britain.!! When it comes to breeding a race team i prefer 1,2,3 year old but i have some very good 5,6,7 and 8 year old distance breeders!! Stuart

Give it in small portions but dont let them eat it like food esp the salty red stuff!! Can cause problems esp when feeding young. Stuart

We should put all our efforts in to recruiting guys in there 50s and 60s! They have the time, money and temperment for pigeon racing (and a wish to get away from the wife), kids just have too much on there plate. Stuart (Aged 33)

Mate Start on the right foot and take the question of colour and strain from your head. Decide what type of racing you prefer and what distance ( i would always recommend sprint/middle to start with) and find someone who is winning consistantly in your area who would be willing to sell you 6-8 ybs for a £100 or so!!!
