Its an old age question, been discussed millions of time. It will evetually be brought in to play, its just a matter of time. It doesnt make the birds fly any faster so cant see why it could be classed as unfair. There has been races when I have been stuck at work and the UNC have liberated with no consideration of the working fanciers etc, and with ets it would have made it possible for me to see when the birds arrived instead of just leaving the traps open. Id be better of in pigeon racing if I didnt work as far as I can see LOL LOL LOL

LOL - because I want it in my loft, so I can send the birds and if I cant be at the loft they can still be clocked in. And so during the week I can train the birds and get an idea of what time they arrived home etc. I dont get the prob with people not wanting it ;D

You will always get a cock bird that is a bit silly (normally a yearling), but they soon settle when there is nesting material to make a nest with. I paired mine up last friday and by sunday night had all the pairs settled to their boxes. It took all day saturday letting each pair out for half an hour at a time to find their way back to the their box, but its worth it. On sunday I just opened all the boxes and walked away from the loft, as if you sit and watch them its to easy to intervene and they are best left to settle themselves. By teatime they were all back in their own boxes, with a few bruised eyes etc, but all seemed well ;D -
The lakes is spot on for mountain biking, I go once a year to Bowness and have a good night out there and then biking the during the day - Spot on weekend away ;D. Also the cleveland hills are spot on for walking and biking, I do a ride from my house to Kirbymoorside (abt. 40miles) a few time a year, cant beat it up on those moors for some peace and quiet ;D

Yeh as recheqhen 5ml on I think its 1kg of corn. I put it in a tub and shake it to mix it in well and then add either Red Lighting (powdered vits) or babymilk, and even Powdered whey protein sometimes.

http://www.gemsupplements.co.uk/ Go to this link and it will give you details of it ;D. I paid abt £10 for my bottle, but you can get a bigger bottle for abt £18. It a liquid that you add to the corn and maybe add some powdered vitamins, baby-milk powder etc.

Same for me, I used to keep zebra finches in a aviary, then got a few pigeons in my mam and dads back garden, then used to watch the races down the local allotments and got the bug. Then discovered the bird without feathers and then back into pigeons. I do think you also need another hobby as well as pigeons, so you dont take it too seriously. I do a lot of running, walking and biking to keep me away from the lofts ;D ;D ;D

I would definately put it on the corn, or it is just a complete waste of money

V-laga Best allround + Gem Breeding corn mixed. And also going to try maple peas in there boxes this year. Just got some matrix and it looks good stuff, so Ill be putting a little in each box + hormoform, per day. Gemthepax every other day with strike added, and alternate days baby-milk powder.

;D ;D, Dont worry I wasnt having a go, Im just interested in all things regarding loft design, as im trying to get mine right. I thought it was interesting that the humidity in the loft and temp difference affects the cocci level etc. I think ive got my loft right now with a bit of playing about with vents and louvres etc. I do have heaters in mine, but have been a little dubious of the affects it will have on the birds, so rarely have it switched on these days.
-
Now if you go by the flying vet book which ive recently being reading, the loft needs to be kept at a temp of approx. 20degrees and have a humidity of between 50-65percent. And not have a change in temp over 24hours of +/- 5 degrees. This is to maintain the form of the birds over a longer period. How would the above loft maintain these parameters??

You should have built it yourself - I did my OB loft in 4 days, and had some fun building it ;D ;D, and Id say it looks as good as any purpose built lofts ;D
-
Where did you get the rubber from (pardon the pun) lol, would interested doing the same on my loft. And how is the loft ventilated in the flat roof state??
-
He didnt state that he wanted to make the birds faster from distance or sprint races, just to make them faster. Health and motivation does make them faster. Obviously it takes the correct loft environment, feeding, health plan, system and ultimately the right type of pigeon, which all lead to a healthy motivated loft, and faster pigeons.

There was a bloke in our club (packed in now like), and its not as extreme as a rocket, but he used to strap weights to the birds to increase there muscle when exercising LOL LOL LOL!!! Didnt make a blind bit of difference to his performances ;D ;D ;D, but it was funny!!!

You may find you need to worm your birds more often, if they are picking about in the garden !!! I noticed mine doing the same the other day, they were pecking about, within about a metre of a pen where my cats are kept, so there must be something in the ground they want, if they are willing to get that close to my cats lol

Why not go direct to Frank Sheader ????

Pairing mine up this weekend, intend on trying to win the 3 longest channel races, on natural, never tried natural before, so Ive spent the last few weeks reading about it. So I will be starting my birds off exercise a little later and will use the inland races as there main training, but they will be getting a 15 mile chuck every morning then 3 x 40 mile chucks 14, 12 and 10 days before their main race then just rest.
