  1. owen, the reason i asked is because after theyve had y.b.s, they always seem to be hungry even after a good feed where before they werent and i thought with it being a crop related illness it could have set of canker even though birds exercising not bad.
  2. been told you should treat for canker after y.b.s, what does members think.
  3. hi mate, what are you feeding them on, i had this last week, started tuesday, what i did was starve them till all the food was out of there system, the droppings went very sticky so i put them on amoxycillen for three days and put them on diat quarter ounce each morning and half ounce night, done this for 3 days, then i put them on nystatin for 2 days then started to build them up slowly on to normal feed, quarter ounce half feed half diat morning then half ounce at night then back onto normal feed, half ounce morning, ounce night plus rehydration saults in water for 3 days after nystatin, now they are back out exercising, it just takes time to build them back up so i would say it takes about 2 weeks to hopefully get them back to some way back to normal.
  4. no mate you have to ask him for it.

  8. could be a number of things wrong not just cocci.
  9. i dont see why people would send birds with a full crop anyway as it cant be good for trapping now were on the same wave lenth
  10. no but we could put something in the water like electrolites to help the youngsters on hot days mate, common sense
  11. dont think anyone could put a price on that tango kid, but i bet it would be a shock mate.
  12. when they bring the birds to closer race points because of bad weather or something else they are not fed that day because they are more than likely to get a liberation.
  13. bloody things, feel for you mate stick in, its getting beyond the joke.
  14. a lot of people wouldnt be here if they hadnt have gone to a doctor highspeedlofts and been prescribed antibiotics mate, some times you have to use them or would you rather have dead birds, its knowing when to use them and when to not, common sense.
  15. no need for a vet my friend, just starve them for 48 hours, save you a fortune, had odd ones holding corn 4 days ago, nothing to eat for 48 hrs, had them out this afternoon and they were the last ones to drop, only way starve them till its completly out of there system then build them up slowly feeding 3 times a day on depurative.
  16. just when i thought we had some sensible people on white logan pops up ;D
  17. better to get it out of the way before racing starts marmite, they will come good mate, rest and light feed.
  18. couldnt agree more mate, common sense.
  19. well said mate, i think these 2 should write a book so we can stop winning so many races
  20. when did i say dying mate, so everyone training last week in hot weather must have had wild bird droppings dropping through the baskets wild birds are there all the time mate, plus i have witnessed birds getting vaccinated only to see sickness start days later, think it has to do with stress but you will prove me wrong no doubt. and as far as australia goes with weather, were lucky to see 3 weeks hot weather in england so the birds are not used to it mate so dont you start calling names, no need for that, everyones got different opinions thats why its a forum.
  21. if i had done as you sugested (eliinate the sick ones) then there would have been times when i wouldnt have won 8 out of 10 and 7 out of 9 y/bird races as these years i had y.b.s before racing began.
  22. so everyone training last week in hot weather must have had wild bird droppings dropping through the baskets :K) wild birds are there all the time mate, plus i have witnessed birds getting vaccinated only to see sickness start days later, think it has to do with stress but you will prove me wrong no doubt.
  23. got to disagree with you there mate, my young birds hadnt been treated for nothing, flying for up to 2 hours at times, training up great beating me back every time but then comes the very hot weather of last week, and it happens every year, what do we do, we keep training them then 3 or 4 days later the sickness starts, i said to my mate wait and see by the end of the week people will start to get problems training in this weather but they have to be trained up with only 2 weeks to go till the first race, so we cant win.
  24. stb,,youve picked me up wrong mate, when i say feed i meen packed out with feed, ie cant get another grain in, this is what i should have said, ive put birds through on a friday mate like this and you can see them throwing up with the outcome others eat it then starts your troubles plus these same members are the ones holding up the sheet nearly every week, they just need to use a bit of common sense, red hot weather and this way of feeding is a recipe for problems, maybe ok for oldbirds but not for young.
  25. got to agree with you lindsay, went to papes corn merchents today, says 3 more members had been in before me and all had it, said when he came back from training yesterday 12 lofts away, (usually about 50) there was feed in 2 baskets and feed in trailer, why do fanciers not notice the change in the birds appetite or when out exercising because when i get it this is the 1st 2 things that happen, they probably get right out of bed with sleep in there eyes and just basket them. p.s i bet these same (fanciers) will have birds away on friday night, crazy, what needs to be done is the person ringing the birds should check to see if they have feed on them and if so dont let them go.
