  1. Hi all Does Lugols Iodine cure or prevent any diseases? If so, which? Skull
  2. Hi all Yesterday a fellow fancier visited my loft and we had a great afternoon going through the birds. He is an Old Hand in the game and this year he came 5th in our Union which concists of 180 memebers. He showed me something on the birds tailfeather, the top middle one that i never even noticed. If the shaft of this feather isnt in the middle of the feather, he would not breed from it. He said that this is where the birds balance statrts if i understood him correctly. What are your thoughts on this? Skull
  3. My reason for wanting to go this way is: The past season my young birds all came back from the opposite direction of race-point in 90% of the races we flew! I clocked with the other guys in the club, same time, but then i stil had to give overflight wich made me loose valuable positions and points. They even came from the wrong side, EAST, on the tosses where they should have come from the SOUTH/WEST, race point. Now, as we as fanciers always want to try and improve, i thought this would maybe help.
  4. I always put my young birds in the baskets when first starting to loftfly them and liberate them in the front yard, so they already learn to leave the baskets before they are evn close to being road trained.
  5. Why dont you take them on theire own?
  6. What would the pros and cons be of road training a young bird singled up the 1st time you take them on the road? Skull

  10. Hi all A fellow fancier told me that my loft is to cold during Winter, the time we race here in South Africa. My loft is build out of Bricks and plastered. It has a ceiling and the roofing is from Corrugated iron. The loft floor is cement. Our temperature during racing in winter is Max:17 and Min: -3 degrees celsius. Any comments or suggestions? Skull

  13. Then whats your opinion?
  14. Hi all 1. A steady wind rarely, if ever, favours any one area over another; 2. Side winds favour no one area over another; 3. An increasing tail wind favours the long end (more time in the air to take advantage of the increasing help from the wind); and 4. An increasing head wind favours the short end (less time in the air to be slowed by the increasing headwind. With which of the above scenarios do you agree or disagree? Skull
