just a thought does it really matter what u feed,if ure doos hit form nothing will stop them,my auld man won the john donald trophy for the best average over 17 races in the midland fed feeding a mixture produced by swainstons called trophy it wasn't a great mix but it was cheap. This was right out to sartilly with the scc

I had a g/daughter of rooie appie H74-865729 who's blood still runs thro some of my birds. The rooie appie was paired onto voskeroodog B82-6131994.Her no was NL-2559034
  7. it must have been me then(dissappointed)(dissappointed)(dissappointed)
  8. more likely to eat the rice cos its more like a tit bit
  9. long grain rice good for any race, give a handful 1 hour before u take them to the club helps retain water in the crop
  10. what was ur score mines 50%
  11. it's a known fact sparrowhawks hunt at times and places where they have been most successful, returning there time and time again.so in my view fanciers letting their birds out regular at this time of year are asking for trouble.Racers are not fit enough at this time of the year so there chances of escape are nil.The hen is feeding herself up at this time of the year because when she goes onto eggs in mid april she sits the full incubation period (32 to 42 days) thats how fanciers get a bit of respite from april thro may.A sparrowhawk that is still attacking a loft thro this time is most likeley to be an unpaired hen
  12. The sparrowhawk is not so named because it thrives on eating sparrows;it is derived from the anglo saxon [speara]meaning flutterer(a generalisation of it's feeding on virtually any bird)

paulo take a look at versa laga prestige,a bit pricey too but if ur not working with a lot of birds add this to ur list of candidates.i think it's false economy with a lot of fanciers they buy the cheaper feeding but feed large teams.Go with what ur pocket can afford, birds have got to work around the fancier not the other way round
  14. believe me frank i know the difference between y/b sickness and pmv.I've had y/b sickness every year for more yrs than i care to remember.so much so that i don't worry about it now
  15. move the egg away from the door bit by bit, then put a bit of plywood at an angle against the wall whils't she's sitting give her plenty straw to build and she'll be quite contented.had this happen loads times when i flew natural
  16. if you have not vaccinated now is the time to do it i've seen first hand the damage it can do,there's been times i've not vaccinated but believe me i'll always vaccinate from now on.
  17. I think fanciers should get a yearly wall planner [harkers were giving them away at blackpool]and once they find out the start of their race programme pencil in a treatment/product plan i.e canker every 4 weeks aviform tues/thurs probiotic sunday.this is just a guide as fanciers can make their own minds up
  18. I think whats wrong with some fanciers is they buy too many products and then they find there aren't enough days in the week to give them all,so they just lie unused and go out of date etc.Chose a couple of broad use products and then plan the days of the season your going to give them i.e tues/thurs

have they got an open window they can go in and out of when their out till they get used to the loft. the 12 you got in today put them back out tomorrow and they'll give the other ones the confidence to come down.
