Thanks for all the comments guys. Yes almost every bird is handled by the judges see the standard below for Horseman pouters which the judge should try to go by, however i am ageat beleaver in a judge will pick what they would like to take home and have in their loft providing it is as close to the standard as possible. Overall Impression : Cheery & Lively, response to chat Dimensions :Height : 9 - 10", Length 12 - 13" tip of beak to end of tail Head : oval and neat, beak resting on crop, ( I prefer the beak to create a heart shape on the crop JMO) Eye : red/orange/yellow ( not mixed or bull) Beak : Dark in selfs, fleshy in dilutes and whites accepted, medium wattle. Neck : Crop rounded and well sprung and in relation to the body, not over blowing. Body : Strong and firm Wings : Tight to the body slightly parted at end and around 3/4" from the tail. Feathers : Strong and hard in good condition Legs : Strong appearance free from feathers and in proportion to body i.e. not to long Colours ; All colours accepted including grizzles and self whites however white flights are not excepted. faults, too tall and too upright, too low and too long, Bull eyes marked or odd eyes, small wattle, long beak small crop & overblown, distorted or cropbound, skinny, prominant keel, too heavy and too wide, too long & cross flighted, Droopy wings, dirty dull and broken flights. Points Height/length 10 head / eye 5 Beak 5 Crop/neck 20 Body 10 Wings 10 Feathers 5 Legs 5 Colour 20 Nature 10 Total 100 I hope this helps. Scotty M

Hi Geordie I mentioned last year that i do not have my show birds sitting on eggs or young after 1st June and they are always through the moult for the show season, i take it this is why you are asking the question? the main thing is pair up early and split early. Scotty M

Thanks for all the comments on the old set up guys, the reasons i want to change is to firstly separate my race birds from my fancy show birds as this gave me a few problems when it came to breeding this year and I do not want to do away with them as i enjoy the show side as well plus it is in the winter period, secondly as i never seem to have time to spend doing anything except the birds i am trying to make life easier which allows me to spend time with elaine and the grandaughter. Chop 3 lemons and 1 garlic bulb put them in a pan of water and boil then simmer for 20 minutes, let cool naturaly over nite add a gallon of cool water then give the birds it in the morning. Cabbage juice from the pan and top up with more water to make a gallon.

PANIC as i have one loft sold which goes away in two weeks and the other goes shortly after it, I have not got my new loft built yet and need to find spare baskets to keep my birds in while new loft being built which could be two weeks after the lofts go. However i cant wait to have the new loft even although it will snooker my plans for the show birds. Scotty M -

Hi I do not want to put a spanner in the works hear but the fed season is not over as we have a race this Saturday from Wakefield which is also the combine so members can duplicate. Due to this Rab would not win the averages if he does not race this week. Scotty M
