    HUYSKEN VAN RIEL

He's got an advert in the BHW this week page 146
  2. Why have the Solent not included Bordeaux or Bergerac in their 'new improved' program? Ge rid of your distance birds and get some sprinters, cos this is the way the Solent is going it seems to me! Cheers Richard
  3. Hi, does anyone know what the new Bicc program will be in light of the availability of Channel racing? Cheers Richard
  4. BBC up at Carlisle 0600 no wind at lib point turning SE on route
  5. Yes Chris BBC Carlisle is this week end
  6. Ours will be at Carlisle with the BBC
  7. They have also chosen to go to a nothing race point. No birds going from the Isle of Wight! Usually about 150. Would they have retained the birdage had they stayed North? Cheers Richard

    SOLENT FED

Yes Dries I have been a member of a NR club since last YB season. If we are not allowed back across the channel this season and AI rears its head next winter and the winter after that etc. what will the die hard SR flyers do? Is this a big enough issue for people actually to pack up? If the Classic clubs commit to NR racing will everyone else follow? Just a couple of thoughts! Cheers Richard

    SOLENT FED

Less fanciers- definately, less quality - possibly. Stilldoesn't answer my question though!

    SOLENT FED

So what is the problem with north road racing?

    SOLENT FED

The point is Dries that any decent distance Classic racing this season is going to be from the North. Therefore the fanciers that want to send their birds to these races need to send them North in preparation. As Rose said you can send the birds straight to Picauville in a normal season, which is on a southerly line, but what is the point in sending them to Yelverton in preparation for Thurso? Cheers Richard

    SOLENT FED

I don't understand the problem with going north! As someone who likes long distance racing Rose, how can you prefer to fly 250miles from Sennen Cove rather than 500+ from Thurso. Surely 500 miles is 500miles which ever way you look at it. Sennen Cove is hardly south road racing either is it? Cheers Richard

    SOLENT FED

Well said Mick. Who the hell is running this Fed anyway. I for one will be reviewing my membership of a Solent Fed club next year after this years debacle. What is wrong with north road racing anyway? The main reason the birdage was down was not the route but the weather! These people need to get their act together pretty smartish and not bank on the glimmer of hope of DEFRA opening up the channel to us. Cheers Richard

Well said Mick, do we bother sending to Yelverton this week or will we be going back north next week when the chance of channel racing has receded again? Cheers Richard

    france

I'm afraid I don't know Rose as I didn't send! I do know that the birdage has been nowhere near the normal for the South Road, but is that going to be changed by a few training chucks down the West Country? Personally I would have preferred to stay on the North and got some decent distance races! Cheers Richard

You do if you are the Solent Fed Tammy, Yelverton was decided on at a special meeting on Monday. I think they just got fed up with the Isle of Wight topping the fed :D :D Cheers Richard
  23. Solent fed at Yelverton 119mls, Southampton NR Fed at Ripon 240 miles. CSCFC would have been at Hexham 295 miles, but they cried off. Funny old season so far init. Cheers Richard

Catherine Cooper mentioned this rumour on the PIPA forum, she mentioned Saintes being the farthest race point to be allowed, which is 340miles to me. Cheers Richard
