  2. nobody else wanted him - mine was the only bid ;D :-/ his nest mate went for a lot more - I was outbid (again ) but not by j bamling (for a change :P ;D ;D ;D ;D)
  3. ;D ;D ;D I think he's a cock - but then somebody had a look at him - and said he was a she (but I think that persons wrong........... 8) ) 'he' was a lot bigger than his nest mate He's a jan loot
  4. Heres a photo of the youngster I bought at the charity sale - bred by Carr & Bromley
  5. As a suggestion - can he send eggs instead? Well packed, I know of people who do this
  6. Is the cheque in the post ;D ;D I'm sure you will do well with them as old birds as well Joe - Good Luck for 2008 :K)
  7. Joe Bracchi flies in North Yorkshire Fed in the UNC, and has just started racing young birds in 2007 after a break Joe had a very good young bird season - one to be proud of (same Fed as me - different club)
  8. they are on e-bay for collectors but some people are under the impression that you can breed early youngsters - like now and pass them off as 2008 youngsters by putting foreign rings on them
  9. NEHU Rules - foreign ring registration - must be accompanied by a vaccination certificate from country of origin - signed by a vet
  10. You need to get together with club mates to place an order here - the postage is VERY expensive and only worthwhile if you buy a decent amount example: £120 of goods - postage £60 = £180 it would not be worthwhile just buying one product - as the minimum postage is about £20, please bear that in mind, you can check the postage by ordering and just before you actually purchase (give your credit card details) the amount of postage will show - it won't show until then - but you can atleast 'back out' before paying - also check how many rands to the pound as it fluctuates quite significantly
  11. show racers and fancy pigeons (not that I've got any) but I know others have on here - and I'd love to see them :K) ;D but ordinary photos -not professional ones
  12. I didn't mean it like that chickadee - I would just like it where you could see the photos - for instance- to compare to your own - without having to trawl through pages of comments to find them - so the photos could be taken off the main threads - where there's comments - or maybe copied to another thread - where no extra comments were allowed - it was just a suggestion :K) or have I dug a bigger hole :B :X :X
  13. When it comes to the microscope board -I think maybe there sgould be threads where there are photos only of things you would be looking for ie one thread for cocci - another for worms - bacteria and yeast organisms, one for things you might see under the microscope that are not a problem - and only certain people can post the photos - perhaps, as bruno has done - take from other threads, but without all the comments - so we can have some reference threads please :K)
  14. I've just spent bloody ages typing out a reply to Karls second lot of photos - and its disappeared quickly - cos I'm going to work - do flotation samples - and thinner ones than the above - background is out of focus - which means your sample is not thin enough - use a cover slip - bruno - post link to finch site please - that will shoe karl how to do a flotation sample :K) good man :K)
  15. Brain cells are still working ( what a memory LOL ;D )
  16. Did it happen Wiley? Heres one we did last year
  17. 8) :K) :K) :K) ;D
  18. There are some other threads on here with samples on - I think chatrace may have posted some with worm eggs and cocci on - samples he had done for friends - and Wiley posted some similar to the above - with plant cells and starch granules - but psoting on here is very worthwhile - I think you need to practice a lot with the microscope to get the most out of it - and asking others opinions - though Wileys pics did have a lot of differnt answers, which I think is why chatrace posted the pics to show the difference And chickadee - its interesting to a point - but can get tedious I have difficulty seeing the canker 'thingies' :B and I can't use a microscope without my specs on - cos all I see is a reflection of my long eyelashes
  19. I'm in the NEHU The colours have been the previous years GB colours (for the last few years anyway) - they were white 2007 - so they'll be white for the NEHU in 2008 The scottish always seem to get the pretty colours and never seem to follow any trends ;D
  20. we usually get the GB leftovers - so they'll be white ;D
  21. I can't do cultures cos I haven't got the equipment But I can tell if there is an imbalance in the bacteria - and if there is a yeast infection ( which one of my young birds had last week) But for that you need to look at x400 magnification ;D
  22. correction, no. 4 wrong worm - hairworm egg
  23. 1st one is plant cells 2nd and 3rd - not sure, 3rd possibly just cell chambers containing starch granules 4th one - not 100% but could be roundworm egg :-/ :-/ but this is from someone who has never seen one cocci oocyst - or one worm egg on a microscope slide as yet from umpteen samples I've looked at what magnification are these? (I would guess x100)
  24. Didn't know you had that many now :B :B :B They're not all in the shed are they? :o You need to separate the sexes Debbie
  25. I think you've all forgotten that Debbie started out with strays
