Doing a great job Tenny, first class mate! (By the way I feel like a famous person now! )
-
Phew, panic over she is back!
-
I have had 6 from 7 but missing my fed winner!
-

Thank you all. A dream come true for me. Have named her 'Rasbull Lady Woody' as my little boy calls all the white ones 'Buzz' and all the others 'Woodys' as he is Toy Story mad! Good luck to all for the rest of the season!
-
Yeah that was the one I was willing to pay a lot for. It was a half brother to Trish and Kate so had my heart set on him. Chuffed to bits with him.
-
Yeah I went. There were not many there, probably around 30-40. The birds were going cheap as chips. You could basically pick which one you wanted and pay the £30 (starting bid for cocks) and £40 (starting bid for hens). The most expensive went for either £170 or £190 I think. 3 or 4 made over £100, a handful went for £60-80 and the rest the minimum bid. I would guess 60-80 out of the 300 were actually sold. So many birds and so few fanciers in attendance made for a great day to seal a few bargains! I ended up buying 6 out of the 8 that I studied prior to going. I had one in particular that I wanted and had a kitty of up to £400 for him and I had him for £30! Happy days! There are another 300 for sale tomorrow and they are starting at £20 a piece, so should be some absolute bargains again! I think christmas had come early!

Fairplay Harrison should be totally ashamed of himeself! The bigger bloke by far and should have smashed him with his size and reach. No punches in the first round what so ever, same in the second and when Haye went for it totally took Harrison apart! Haye is sheer class and did what he had to do but Harrison has no guts or bottle what so ever!
-
Much the same as you Jonn. I raced the majority of my young birds out to 200 miles and they did fairly well. I had one a w/f blue cock from my number 1 hen, who was badly attacked by a cat on my last training toss prior to the 1st race. He recovered from this and then went back in the training crate and on his first toss this time returned hawked! I allowed him to recover all season and finally managed to get him into the very last race of the season and he was my 3rd bird home. He has turned into a cracking cock and this is the one I have high hopes for next season. As he is quite accident prone if he can avoid being runover, or mugged on his way home in the early season training tosses I believe he will go ok!

I think Haye will batter him! But as Harrison is so big Haye needs to be careful he doesn't walk onto 1 of Harrison's punches. If he does he could be in trouble. If he manages to avoid that I think Haye will take him. I am going to go for Haye to stop him in the 6th! YOU heard it here first!

Hi, I am looking for a name and contact number for the Penywaun South Road club please. If anyone can help I would be most grateful.

I guess it could be as cheap or as expensive as you wanted it to be. In going small - The loft could be a converted shed picked up for a couple of hundred quid. The basket could be picked up for £20-40, clock would set you back £80-£100, supplements and feed would initially cost around £20-£50. Bird could be picked up relatively cheap so you gotta be looking at £400 for a very basic small setup. On the other hand if going big and new could be several thousand easily.

How Big Are The Sections In Your Loft
rasbull replied to demolition man's topic in Lofts, Fixtures & Fittings
My widowhood loft is 9 x 9. My Young Bird loft is 12 x 8 and I have a stock section 6 x 6 which I hope to add an aviary to in the spring. -
Deputy Manager for a Bupa Residential home. Been there for 7 years and do the rotas for the 35 staff that work there. First thing I did was book all my saturdays off and give myself all mornings so finished by 2.30pm to spend the whole afternoon and evening with the birds!
-
I agree, he was selling them off a stand in the show for set prices. Think he would have had a lot more had he auctioned the birds. I did purchase another 2 so he knocked off £50 in total for me. He sold his National winner for £500 and the bird I purchased was just over 2 minutes behind it in the same race! I arrived quickly and purchased what I was after very quickly.
-
A mere £50 is all I paid for a hen that has done the winning against big birdages up to 458 miles with 9th and 11th National thrown in for good measure!
-
I didn't mate. I will make that judgement myself when I breed from her and put her youngsters to the test! She has obviously been focused on racing so doubt she has been allowed to have many youngsters in her life to date!
-
Yeah going to send one off her for sure! The only way I can test them on a level playing field due to where I live!
-
Well worth the tenner! Worth every penny!

I attended the Welsh show today and headed straight for the clearance sale of Clive Akers (Amesbury, Humphreys and Akers) I purchased a cheq hen Clive pointed out was his best racing hen. The details on the pedigree were a little vague but on doing a little research this afternoon I have found the following results this little hen has achieved. She was bred in 2008 so has only had 3 years racing to date! 2010- Club Result not known,6th Fed, 13th Combine (1,348 birds), 11th National 818 birds - 458 miles 2010 -Club Result not known,9th Fed, 16th Combine (6,563 birds), 9th National 2,693 birds - 193 miles 2010 -Club Result not known,74th National 2,649 birds - 196 miles 2010 -Club Result not known, 119th National, 1,679 birds, 368 miles 1st Club Maidstone 2nd Club Newbury, 17th Fed (3,000+) 2nd Club Guildford, 7th Fed (3,000+) 1st Club Newbury, 11th Fed (3,000+) 3rd Club Newbury 5th Club Epsom To say I am over the moon with my new addition is an understatement! 4 times in the top 120 of the National in 1 season! I am trying to find out further results especially from last season in the National races if anyone has any I would love to hear from you. I have contacted Clive but because he was in partnership he only has limited results/information at his address but he is going to have a dig and see what he can find!
