  1. When you see some of the prices for lofts i think blakes are really good value for money,i paid 1400 for a 21x6 with 12 boxes,30 perches internal doors and extra louvres to run the whole of the loft.
  2. Good point pete although new to this game i suppose everyones got their own way of doing things but having tossed my late ones from 12 miles first off i think im going to stick with that next year as a starting point.

  4. Thanks for the advice guys took them about 12 mile in the end dropped a couple and they arrived in dribs and drabs but thats the first one out the way just pick the good days out now through the winter.
  5. Basketed 20 later bred yb for their first toss in the morning ranging really well,was going to take them 18 miles to sort the wheat from the chaff but bottling it a bit now was going to go a bit shorter do you guys think 18 miles is a bit to far for a first chuck.

    Hi michelle next year will be my first year with ob,my pigeons are open hole so i will be flying natural only really interested in the channel races.What size widowhood loft are you building and what have you got at the moment good to see some pics when you get it built.

    Nice gesture alan sure there will be others on here michelle who will help you out,my first season this year and quite a few on here gifted me yb including alan and a special mention for allan yeates who bred me my first ever 1st place with a fvw thanks guys.
  12. Birds dont bat an eyelid with all mothers chickens and geese milling about open hole all day long,hacks me off though when i put a nice bath out for them which they ignore in favour of the manky pond on show.
  13. Here is my blakes loft 8 months old really pleased with it leaked a bit in the corners but i battened on some plastic felt and corrugated the roof jobs a good un.

Hi all this is my first season with yb been feeding a high protein mix with barley added for future distance racing in mind but now that i have finished racing my yb whats the best food for the birds to complete a good winter moult and whats the best types of barley and maize to buy to add to my mixes in the future bearing in mind i will be buying from a farming merchants where i know the grain can be a bit dusty but does it matter that much,any advice and tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the advice guys especially for talking a lot of sense alan might stick them away for next year after i have trained them,think the amount of clashing they have as they go further across the south coast has a big bearing on yb losses if they are not fully prepared,whats the answer with these yb do they need the race basket in their year of birth or private tosses to say 40 miles singled or doubled up ?
  19. May be sue always busy with work and the cost of fuel im only a poor cornish lad no sympathy please hear of guys saying they train up to 100 miles don,t know how they afford to do it.
  20. Hi guys first season with yb,i have ten later yb that were not ready for the early races going to start them up the road this week to 30 miles for 117mile race in a month is this to far for a first race or do i keep training and put whats left away for next year.

  22. 18 mile toss in the morning ready for my first race on sunday honiton 57 miles.
  23. Andre after your maiden win last week im surprised by your lack of confidence keep us informed when you get them they will be there,by the way we are going sunday now which is good because the forecast is better.
  24. Took 21 18 miles back in 25 minutes have not dropped one yet in 8 tosses lucks got to change sometime.
  25. Probaly stretch to a share in one like they do with racehorses you in with me van.
