  1. Poor thing!!
  2. Absolutely Jimmy. There was no need for this to have been posted at all. :(
  3. Probably missed the thread Ben but, why not ask in a PM....no chance of not seeing that!
  4. I have a few 07 and 08 RPRA rings, are they any good or are you just looking for something fancier? :-/
  5. Welcome Mandy. Good to see another member of the fairer sex here. Sue

    PROBLEM

    OK. Sorry.

    PROBLEM

    I don't kno wabout this Chris but, going into the loft after dark isn't a good idea...your hens might step off the eggs and not go back onto them.
  8. I've never trimmed garden fantails - they have no problem filling their eggs.
  9. I'm near Manchester.....will send you a PM.
  10. It was a real shock Debbie, I've read about attacks on here but, I think that I thought I was immune - nearly four years of the birds out in the dovecote and never a sign of one. I was amazed how big it's wing span was too - I thought they were only small, this one must have been 30" across! The image of you running through the neighbourhood gardens made me laugh. I do hope you manage to solve the problem. Sue

    White hen

    Sorted now - I have had one offered. Thanks Debbie. I have done very well and managed four years without an attack but, I was horrified when I saw what it had done to my little hen. She was the first bird I had and was very tame - flying down the field to land on me when she saw me coming. Let us know how the flashing light works.

    White hen

    Bit of a long shot but, here goes..... I lost my only hen to a Sparrowhawk last week and her mate is terribly lonely, calling for her. Please does anyone have a Garden Fantail hen they would be willing to sell? Hopefully in the NW so that I can avoid courier costs. Sue.
  13. ........and those who don't race? .....those with fancy and show pigeons? :-/
  14. When I was newcomer to the site, the questions I asked were answered by many people with so many different opinions that I was totally confused. Much as I appreciated everyone trying to offer me support I finally decided to approach a local fancier. I couldn't have been luckier, not only did I choose someone who always wins but, now have 'hands on' support and have made a friend for life. :)
  15. No photos showing for me :-/ :-/

    AGE

    I'm 55. I think that the older generation of fanciers (with a few exceptions :X :X) tend to be less computer literate and won't post - that's if they even know of the existence of forums like these. :-/

    arson attack!

    It's the same one I posted on here last week. http://forum.pigeonbasics.com/m-1235764451/s-3/#num3

    let out

    Great. They'll have learned a lot whilst they were out - I bet they don't get lost again from round the loft.
  19. So sorry Blaz. You must feel gutted. Hope you get some back/reported.

    STAMP

    Mmm, I see what you mean Phil. To be honest, I have given up stamping them. Anyone want a red stamp with my phone number on...free? ;D ;D

    STAMP

    Home number. I ordered a red stamp but wish I had black - red shows awful through the white feathers. :-/ :-/ In three years I have only lost three birds and had only one reported (broken keel) and that was by a non-fancier...this bird was stamped but also had my phone number on ring. Before having pigeons I didn't know to look on the wing for a number and, even if I did, I doubt I could have opened a wing. :B
  22. Yeah, fine for the first round but, where are they going to lay the second round?
  23. Peckedhen

    let out

    Brilliant. One down, one to go.

    let out

    I think that they were a little bit too old when you let them out. When they are strong on the wing, they fly too far and then can't find their way home. Fingers crossed they return tomorrow.
