I don't name my racers, being pure white they are difficult to recognise unless they are in their nest boxes where I can then see their different characters - those that don't mind me handling their young, those that wing slap and peck at me. I usually stroke the side of their head - some like it, some object. ;D;D!
The ones I have named and are especially tame (they fly to me when they see me coming, even right across the field) are my garden fantails - big mistake - the Sparrowhawk has taken two hens within a month. It doesn't do to become too attached, it's always the favourites that seem to 'go'.
