How Many Of Your Racers Are Related ?
fletch replied to andy Burgess's topic in Breeding, Strains & Families
21 cocks 13 are related i.e brothers fathers or related down from 1 pigeon cock -
race birds a few missing the odd egg but as they only rear 1 egg each plenty covered the stock birds 2 pairs missed and the old cock missed again but hopefully he will fill in the summer
-
old bushart cock, 2003 bred bred from 2 great birds for us he has only filled 1 egg in 2 years for us and that was in august last year
-
i had a hen the same mate we took out of race loft and put in the stock loft she would not pair and in the end we put her in the spare section and left her for a few months she soon paired up when she got used to the surroundings was to late to breed from her last year but she laid well this year i just feel that some birds don't take moving lofts to easy and they take time adjust to there new surroundings just give him time mate he will be ok
-
spot on pal but the chinese seem to knock the rings out cheap enough so maybe we can get some bigger rings
-
was only thinking this the other day rings seemed to be getting smaller
-
shall pop by like last year

thanks mate very interesting last year i paired the old cock to a good hen last year knowing that he didn't fill any eggs the year before, but the hen i paired him to was previously paired to our number 1 stock cock, as i knew that the old cock may not of filled his eggs, so till the 1st egg was laid i let the hen go in the spare section with her previous cock for a hour every day (but i never saw him tred her, i not saying he didnt) the 2 eggs were filled but both were cheq the hen is a blue and her previous cock was a blue the old cock is a dark i will never know if the old cock is the sire of the 2 yb but i do know that in the summer he did fill a egg and was a cheq a spit of one of the others
-
hope this is good as i got a good old boy who is only filled 1 egg in 2 years
-
1 white grizzle in nearly nest but he is paired to a chequer so not much chance of breeding a pure white from him
-
hi mate this fella is a 99 % white he fled well as a yb and he sadly came home back smashed up as a yearling from training he now in the stock loft, he is a cooreman a grandson of young joker, my mate has his dad and he bred winners from him, but they are pieds
-
