This was one of the hot topics of last year if you remember. Cross contamination when the courier handles different birds if they help box them etc, moreso in stray season though. Everyone was spoilt with Amtrak but then again they did charge £30 quid and the prices were going up just before they went under so boxes should have been supplied as per my comment earlier. £47.50 for Scotland? That's hellish steep, if I as a small concern can do it comfortably for no more than £40 from the bottom of Cornwall to as far as Aberdeen then so should others, £35 was about the most we charged last season if I'm right. How JM can do it for as little as £25 beats the hell out of me but I respect the way they choose to work and genuinely wish them the best of luck and certainly would not beat them up for not supplying boxes at that price. Cheap at half the price and that's coming from a competitor

Doesn't it depend on the courier Paul? Taking my courier hat off if I were paying just £25 for Wales to Scotland I'd be more than happy to pay for the boxes.

Thanks for the plug Bob but I doubt we're the only ones with boxes, most couriers will have, or should have just in case. There's nothing worse for the fancy if the courier turns up with no box, mind you its a good idea to ask beforehand when you take the order. It was hell last year going to X amount of customers with no boxes waiting while up to 20 or more birds were boxed (lucky we had enough on board). Thus its not the cost of the boxes themselves that pose the problem its the time wasted waiting on actually boxing the birds which can add up. That said, I don't think for a second the customer should have to pay for the boxes either, they should be taken into account by couriers but that's just an opinion we hold. I have offered to sell the boxes to the other couriers for as little as 32 pence each if they fetch them off us which I don't think they can get cheaper unless buying in large quantities of thousands? so there's no excuse for not having any. As this thread is mainly about jmcouriers who I wish all the luck for the season I'll jump out now as I don't want to steal their thunder.

I think every courier out there agree that SPDS are a great service for the Scottish. Just to clarify though Dave, did I not read the other day that you posted that SPDS charged a premium of £17.50 which would be on top of what you charge? That was the price they put forward to us which is why we found it hard to work with them on that basis as it would mean on average people in Edinburgh for example would stump up anything from £47.50 to £52.50 for one bird? This as most know is a massive increase over what it cost last year. We would 100% work with SPDS to get the birds north of Aberdeen but pre-aberdeen we can do it for a significant amount less than what it would cost by using them. I genuinely wish you well in getting something sorted and hope it will be fair on the fanciers pockets as they don't half seem to be getting hit at the moment.

The furthest down south they are is Manchester from the information we've recieved of them.

PigeonTracker replied to pastabalodis's topic in Lofts, Fixtures & Fittings
I'm sure that one of the members here might look at buying it on your behalf and shipping it out for you, why not ask? You never know. -
Not sure if Double Cottage Lofts would be viewed as close to you> http://www.dclofts.co.uk/ they are excellent flyers and breeders and definately one's to contact with a view to setting up.

No, sorry to burst your bubble darren my name is Ryan, not to allow you to attack Pigeon Tracker as you've constantly done in the past I'd kindly ask you to refrain from posting if you have no vested interest in using us. We've made our point to the fact we're very much active and feel no need to get into conflict with you or any other member. Bye

hope you don't mind us putting you right cowboy but Pigeon Tracker are very much still alive and kicking, without going into the gory detail for all and sundry we've decided not to take on every job passed to us so that those within Pigeon Tracker who need to concentrate on other more pressing things can, the last thing we want to do is let anyone down by taking on work we don't think we can honour. Certainly no need to take us off any list as we have no plans of shutting shop. we make a point not to post on here any more as we don't find it healthy for business but will gladly answer p.m's should they come to us. Please note that it isn't always going to be Jamie (if at all) who replies to posts or p.m's as Richard has been advised that certain members of our staff monitor the site to ensure we don't miss any posts needing answering. On that note if any messages are meant to go to Jamie please just mention that in your p.m's or send us an e-mail which will ensure a quicker response.

I NEED YOUR HELP GUYS!!!
PigeonTracker replied to globalgirl's topic in Novices, Beginners & Young Fanciers
Most people on here don't give to recieve so don't feel bad. Take heed of the information sent to you via p.m, done some further checking for you and that could be one of your biggest issues. Hopefully some members here who have good records winning XYZ amount of top level races could stand testimony to what pigeons need regarding human interaction. For those who don't understand what the heck I'm on about, I p.m'd with some advice regarding her problems and suggested that because there is no hard evidence (scientific) that is, to support the need for Pigeons to have human contact, perhaps asking one or two 'top' or 'high profile' pigeon men to give their learned opinions on the matter would help if it ever came to going to a Judge and arguing the case for. I'd agree with Roland on the RSPCA aspect, they're only interested in shaking tins and having photos taken of a dramatic rescue, what they know about pigeons could be written on a stamp. I don't like the RSPCA though, or does it show. ;D -
found the rest of them now Josh, sent you p.m

Haven't you recieved the ones I sent? Will check with post office in morning to see why. :-/

I didn't go because my Wife is unwell and undergoing tests and is more important to me than Blackpool ever will be, Blackpool comes each year and it will be there next year when fingers crossed I will be able to get the chance to put faces to voices and the like with my Wife on my arm. In the meantime I hope everyone enjoys the weekend and has a fantastic time.
