i am glad to see some fanciers are all of the same mind about all the birds should get a chance to win the nationals letting the birds go as early as possible also with a light south wind letting the birds go at 7 am at 40 mls an hour is 10'30 but you all know tired bird will slow down as distances increase but let them go at 5am to 5.30 the tables would be in a more even playing field all we need now is a race controller from the north section :) 8) ??) -

andy i have been on that planet winning a SNFC and will never stop trying to do it again this post is not about letting birds up at mid day that was only if the birds dont get up as early as possible if you let them up so the birds gets into the borders i dont think that is very fair and its pointed out so everboady in our sport can see that the north fanciers are being frozen out THERE HAS BEEN A FEW BIRDS UP IN FRASERBURGH HAS FLOWN 724MLS ON THE DAY THAT IS WHY IF THE BIRDS GET A CHANCE TO GET HOME THEY WILL IF GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY THE BIRDS WILL NEVER FLY 16 TO17 PLUS HRS IF THEY DONT GET THE CHANCE AND I DONT MEAN 11PM BECAUSE THEY ARE CERTAINLY NOT FLYING THEN 4 TO 500MLS THEY WILL COME ANY TIME FACTS -

frankdooman if its only one minute between 10.45pm 4.45am and 4.30am 11pmwhy change to me its 30min yes frank your right about the northern lights but once you pass aberdeen the birds are flying into complete darkness and with 40 miles to fly iam very sure a lot of birds meet there waterloo at this stage of race come up any time and witness for your self even before 10,30pm there are no birds in the sky if the shoe was on the other foot something would have been done about it The reason i put this post being a NATIONAL for the whole of SCOTLAND NO BOADY will ever get it right but surly being sportmen let the race start as fairley as possible and get all of the convoy a chance of winning the greatest prise in pigeons THE GOLD CUP SOLET THE BIRDS UP AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE IF THE CONDITIONS ARE RIGHT AS PER RULE YOURS IN THE SPORT -

frankdooman i can assure you being a race controller now you have a lot of help with all the computers with all the different weather forcasts and if you get a chance get them into the skys early at distance racing so they have the skys to them selves to get on there way for a good start rember the old saying the early bird has a chance of getting home----------------] -

Your maybe right Gareth about 1990 but i am certain it was after the Eddie Mann bird which to me should have been given the bird more credit for coming so late at night! also Frank i know it’s not possible to please everybody all i am getting at is if the conditions are right with the sun on the baskets don’t hold back and keep the longest flying birds out when you at least see if they can do it on the night ! Robbie Doo that is exactly what i am getting at but it’s not happening and its time there was a change for the better for our birds after the first drop 480mls another race to go nearly 200mls. What does the majority of fanciers think about fairness regarding the hours of darkness for a start in 1976 the hours of darkness was 6 hours am 4:45am to 10:45pm in that year there were three fantastic S.N.F.C winners into one club in Fraserburgh invitation Fc 1st open 622mls nearly 6,000 birds 11th open 663mls 7,000+ birds and 54th open 724mls Nantes all 1st sect winners the 11th open bird was timed at 11pm in pitch dark i came away from Wilson nobles and you would have said it was impossible to get a bird. But Wilson timed at 11pm. The following year there was another bird clocked in after the hours of darkness at johns haven to Eddie Mann so what happend the following year. I am sure it was in 1978 some fanciers had this fantastic brain wave to reduce the hours of darkness to 5 1/2 just incase there was any more fantastic performances in the dark there was one in 1976 one in 1977. these same fanciers that got together to reduce the hours of darkness that is 32 years ago i would like them to name how many more have made it home in pitch dark ! now i would like to know the difference of 4:30 in the morning in France by 4:30 in the north of Scotland Fraserburgh the birds have to rise at 4:30 but they cannot be liberated at 4:30 i don’t expect them to be liberated at 4:30 but birds in the national don’t have all to fly 480mls s all the way up the birds are getting more tired which is commonsense and the birds that has to go to the bitter 600 to 700mls away up in Fraserburgh ,Elgin, Banff and Buckie etc there not being allowed to complete there destination because the birds are not let up early enough why not have a north section fancier as one of the race controllers, i used to land herring in the late 1970 early 1980 in France ST.Malo and i can assure any fanciers 5am to 5:30 there is no excuse to keep these birds in the baskets any longer all members pay there fees and should be treated the same give all the birds the benefit of the doubt, and a gesture which should be adhered to in the gold cup. If the birds can’t get up as early as possible make it a mid day liberation so all birds has the same chance to win the race come on lads let commonsense prevail to all in the sport of racing pidgeons . asha why should a fancier have to pay for training his birds just to fly nationals i nearly fly every national inthe snfc since 1969 i dont see no difference as club you pay your fees your birds are entitled to compete and itsup to club to notfy there decision and why the fancier cant race his birds so the fancier can defend him self if its just for flying a good bird the union must have the power to tell the club what to do loosing fanciers stupidly is just crazy the state the sport is now you need every decent one -

i cant understand why the shu said they cant do any thing about a club refusing a new member our clubs never refused any member infact this last few years weve had russians and poles all made welcome but yet the shu made us change our clubs name from fraserburgh invitation flying club the invitation had to be removed and replaced by distrist as the shu said it was stopping new members coming into the sport ifamember was being convoyed with our club and he was in the radius he won the racei had the second bird and won the race there is no way thats acceptable its time pettyness was removed and its got to start at the top the shu everyboady has a right to fly there birds -
i dont know but he certainly had no birds to verfy what i am sorry for is the fancier who was second stevie dont go to his door looking for birds he cant give away the snfc had plenty chances but try and catch a fly guy

its getting better willie the fanciers flying the shortest distances would like there birds to navigate the water it will make the widowhood boys have a goas well the race i would get rid of is newburgh the distance is just not far enoughfor the shortest flyers 240 mls at least eastbourne gives the shortest dist 330mls on the same lines willie but it would be up to what the fanciers in the south thinks as to what they want as fair nationals aspossible
-
tours for the longest flying fanciers it takes 3 4 5 6 year old birds and older not many survive 2 or 3 years old now due to hawks and all the other obsticles they have to endure but ypres you would have birds to go every year and should please everyone also a good thing to give non members a chance to enter as the following year they could become members of the snfc only national open to the whole of scotland

hatching we could start by scrapping toures there is so few birds going to this race if you time in youve an open position i won the sec in 1978 nearly 2000 birds now you are lucky if 250 birds go if there was a ballot for tours ypres or lille i am sure the fanciers would put the x for the latter

thanks ian go for a gold medal for the winner ror each section winner top brass ok for starters
-
your well informed willie thanks for the info

l ast year the snfc dropped a hand full of birds at ypres they were liberated into rain dod smith timed a couple of late breds you would think it would benefit the birds they would not be so long in the baskets and also i would think a lot cheaper and more birds as it is just perfect for a fit yearlings do you want a race name snfc remembrance time for a change what do you all think

After reading joe murphys article in the b.h.w regarding this rubbish of a transporterour birds are being convoyed in. I think its time we were thinking about our birds more.. Would it be a good idea to send our birds along with the west durham amal who goes to arras & claermont. or the up north combine goes to clearmont surely with the large amout of birds that is sent it would enhance our sport. And i am absolutely sure the returns would be a lot better. ITS also time the s.n.f.c & s.n.r.p.c became one . As how can you say that you have won a scottish national whenall the best birds are not flying against each other and that also goes for the fanciers dont be so childish and bury the hatchet and get on with what is best for the birds next year,,,, WALTER MASSON SUMMERFIELD LOFTS
