I think so too! I know if the AI hits here I will keep our pigeons locked up! We have regular migratory birds stopping in here all the time, in fact a goose stayed here all winter this past year. But it's not just my pigeons I'm worried about! You can't keep ALL poultry and fowl locked in!
  2. I have a new trapping problem. It's not my YB's but a pair of OB's. I have an enclosed landing board with a door to keep cats etc. out that I keep closed after the birds trap. And the trap is a drop chute type. Well this one pair of OB's learned how to go up the chute and make themselves right at home in their own private room when the landing board door is closed. So I put a stop to that by putting a block of wood over the drop hole when the trap is closed. But now the two of them have been staying out, sneaking in to eat and right back out before the others have trapped. They are looking for places outside to nest. I keep chasing them out of those nesty places and stand watch to shut the trap as soon as they are in now. I have lots of nest boxes inside the loft not taken, but they seem bent on finding their own private place. Should I lock them in a nest box? Should I just make sure they are not both out exercising at the same time? Any suggestions? I want them to be happy IN THE LOFT!

Why Hyacinth? What do you mean a far rougher time?
  5. What decision was made on replacements?
  6. Chatrace, What is at the center of the loft? Looks like a drop off in the center? Carol
  7. What ever the majority wishes is fine with me. But I think they should be able to replace their entry up to a certain amount of time before the race. Some one loft races do that. My opinion... Carol
  8. Here is a photo of my PB entry to be shipped on Monday.
  9. Hey I read a good one! And I think it applies to some that have been arguing. You can't change a man unless he's wearing diapers!
  10. If I'm not mistaken I think I read a post that made me think Clocky is back under the name of fergie. Is that you clocky?????
  11. Have a GREAT DAY! BigBlue!
  12. That would be NICE symbro. But I decided it was not so bad (expensive) this year. When you first switch to ETS every bird needs a band and it seems like it is going to be a BIG expense every year. But after going through two YB season and one OB season and now going into the second OB race season I realize that it's not so bad. Just got the YB's to put chip bands on and an odd late hatch or two. Carol
  13. I'm very concerned about this shipping problem from Seatac. I did finally get a shipment out last monday but it took them till thurs night to get there, a routing problem... Although my YB's are not million dollar babies they are worth a lot to me, they are my best! and I really hate to see anything happen to them. Maybe I should drive them down to OR like Hyacinth said and ship them on Kittihawk. At any rate I will hold off a few days and see what you guys hear or find out from Karen. Carol
  14. I kinda like the idea of a single band, the only thing I had not thought about until it was brought up on the other forum, is that they would be dated and it is expensive to buy dated ets bands and not use them all and not be able to use them the next year. I think the only way would have both available so if you needed to ets band them later you still could.
  15. Wow! is that two headed pigeon for real chatrace????? Never heard of two chicks in one egg and certainly never a two headed pigeon. Carol
  16. Well said Chatrace! Agree 100%! Yours in the sport. Carol
  17. This is my first time too, first time ever. I'm sure glad it is in Bill's race from what you say Linda. He does do an outstanding job with communication and his web site with the pictures and all. Thanks once again Bill and thank you Webmaster for this opportunity. Yours in the sport. Carol
  18. ;D I love it! Now that's a quote worth remembering and repeating! Can I pass that one along Chatrace? Yours in the sport. Carol
  19. Thanks Linda, Good idea. Will do. Carol
  20. Will do Bill, Thanks, I might take you up on that auction race. I hate to ship one little guy all alone. Do I just mail you a check for the entry fees? Carol
  21. I just did Linda, they look great! Now did you take those photos or did Bill? Yes, thanks Bill. Carol
  22. Bill, Do I mail my bird for the Syndicate entry to 329 Chestnut Drive, Buttler, PA 16001-1205? How has shipping been there? I been trying to send birds to MI for a couple months and they keep coming back, too cold they say. I sent them Monday and they didn't come back but they got mis routed and they just finally arrived tonight (Thursday)! Anyway I plan to send it to you next Monday the 3rd. OK? Carol
  23. Now that sounds like a race secretary's NIGHTMARE!!!! I know your only trying to think of a compromise, but gee wizzz. Buy an expensive system to save on the work and then use two systems so as to double the work???? Just my opinion Carol
