Hi, One of my latebreds has been looking off colour the last couple of days, he is excersing with the others but always puffed up when in the loft. I just felt his crop and it is full of corn from last nights feed but still wants to eat. Advice appreciated Craig

One of my canary breeding friends used to say creosote was also a good way to prevent red mites, not sure how true this is

White Pigeons Eye Colour
pigeonman007 replied to pigeonman007's topic in Breeding, Strains & Families
Just checked mine, they do have some feather on their legs, but I wouldnt say anymore so than my normal pigeons. If you catch the eye in direct sunlight as I have this morning, the ctr is a slightly different shade, but barely noticeable. -
White Pigeons Eye Colour

Thank you all, that be why my logans have dark eyes then -
Hi all, I was looking at some nearly all white grizzles on the net and they have a normal pigeon type eye, but white logans seem to have a solid eye colour rather than the black/orange outer colour, just wondering if this means anything or is it just a trait of the breed?

I'll need a new, bigger garden first lol

Photo if my yellow kirkpatrick. Not a brilliant pic and I dont t its the only shot I managed before my camera battery died. I will take some more tomorrow. Her eye looks as though it has a problem, but she is just winking for the camera lol

Is yellow sex linked, and some of the cocks would be carriers?

We went down to Rye Harbour in Sussex a few weeks ago and there are several notices saying do not feed the birds as they become aggressive!!

Just wondering if anyone knows of a mr K Glover in Cambs. My white logans originate back to him and would be interested to know some background on them.

I'll post a pic tomorrow if I get chance, mine is a bit darker than the pic above

Hi I have aquired a yellow (red) kirkpatrick hen, lovely looking bird. Just wondering the best partner for her really, I have a blue cheq kirkpatrick cock bird, would that pairing produce more of the yellows possibly?

Hi all, Does anyone know of any companies willing to post clay nest bowls? I've found a couple of companies on the net who sell them, but none are willing to post them. Cheers Craig

Hiya, I have decided I would like to have a go at racing next season. Would like to race with ybs bred by myself so am looking to add to my couple of stock pairs and would like a few more pairs of stock birds & an odd hen suitable for pairing up around Dec/Jan. Most of my birds are svr based I believe. Any help much appreciated. Cheers Craig

Hi Karl, If you are considering parting with any I may possibly be interested. I would like a few more stock pairs to breed some of my own ybs for racing with next season. Have a couple of pairs at present and some white logans for a bit of fun. Craig

Not really seen any fog cover(never was at any of the bootfairs I went to) but it can get very breezy off the sea.

Hiya, I used to live in Hastings until 5 years ago. I believe they lib from The Oval which is a pretty clear site, just out of the town ctr. There used to be large bootfairs there as well. Access is good & no overhead cables tall buildings etc. Its only about a 5min walk to the seafront from there

My few latebreds have had a couple of drops at 2miles, and got them all back, albeit not as quickly as I expected lol Bit reluctant to take them any further though but guess its got to be done at some point

I like that one.... off to recycling plant tomorrow now lol

Mine is just ply wood flooring that I scrape & hoover each day. Would I be better of using a floor covering of some sort, I used to use hemcore with my budgies but most of it ended up out of the cages!!

Will make sure she gets pleanty of rest & as much grub as she wants. I'll have a look at the wound again tomorrow, not really confident enough to do stitching, I do have superglue though

YB on the house roof
pigeonman007 replied to stewarty dove's topic in Novices, Beginners & Young Fanciers
Mine were like that the first couple of times, not coming in until nearly dark, with one sleeping out overnight, but after a couple of days of very small feed rations they started coming in no problem -
Took 3ybs on a 2 mile drop today, first 2 got home in good time, the other one arrived back about half hour ago (was dropped at 12:30) She has a rip about 2" long from her leg up her chest no excessive bleeding but the skin has been torn, she looks very sorry for herself but has eaten well and taken a good drink. Any ideas whats done this. My wife has just said shes seen kestrels in that area in the summer, would they have had a go?
