  1. i didnt he was just trying to subdue the subject,i apologise if i have offended you in anyway, but it was just my personal feelings about seeing all those dead birds stretched out there.and was not at all aimed at you personally or anyone else.
  2. the closest to me is tariq but as far as i know he still keeps and flies his birds.i would have loved to have them, has this happened recently or some time ago.
  3. i dont know him,but i beleive that he lives down by the shops somewhere, have seen about four or five birds hanging around in a garden and theres no loft there.
  4. i see your point, there are plusses and minuses in everything.its just upsetting that it has to happen.
  5. :) :)
  6. if you read the mans description he states that he has a lot of birds on his ground at the moment and he needs help to shoot them, but he then goes on to say that all kit is provided magnet, decoy etc.so i dont understand why the birds have to be lured to their deaths in the name of sport.but thats just my personal oppinion, its not intended to ruffle anyones feathers(excuse the pun).
  7. i totally agree but in the excitement of the kill,i wonder how many domestic birds get hit.
  8. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/A-DAY-PIGEON-SHOOTING-in-the-WESTCOUNTRY-near-BRISTOL_W0QQitemZ190249555998QQc your thoughts on this barbarism, not the culling that bothers me its the fact that ebay is allowing it to be advertised on their sight.i wonder how many racing pigeons are lost this way.
  9. attacking peoples property isnt the answer,if you have a problem sort it out with the person concerned, this makes me think of the welsh transporter fire all those years ago, fanciers birds were coming home with horrific burns and many died in the fire, such a huge loss of great talent.
  10. have been reading up on pigeon ailments is going light and yb sickness the same ailment because the symptoms are allmost the same,im confused, can anyone help.
  11. thanks for the info, that was the number i could not get hold of.

    baskets

does anyone have any old baskets lying around that they no longer want.i have one so far which was donated to me by a fancier.im working on a budget which has been swallowed by loft building .i am in the newport area of south wales, and willing to pick up.
  16. its also worth noting that the bird does not neccesarily have to be culled if it is pmv as most make a full recovery in about 3 or 4 months and can go on to be excellent racers and breeders.
  17. hello.i have been reading about the paramyxovirosis.it is true that disordered vision(missing the corn)is a nervous disorder associated with the virus.the gastro intestinal signs appear first(watery or bloody diarrhoea) followed by the nervous disorders, which can take a few days to several weeks to follow.however if your birds have been vaccinated but a long time ago, they may be suffering from a less typical form of the disease ie nervous symptoms without gastro intestinal problems or vice versa.either way i would isolate the bird untill you can verify what the problem is.
  18. from a newbies point of view,i can tell you that its really reassuring to know that there is someone you can turn to for advice.but at the end of the day you still have to make your own mind up.its allways good having said that to have other more experienced fanciers to point you in a direction that you wouldnt have thought of.im on the verge of completing my loft and i hope to start building my team within the next month,so i will definately be posing some questions on here for you all to ponder over.
  19. has anyone flown jansenns and if so how have they performed this year?
  20. the pole supports your statement,it shows that old bird losses are conciderably less than young bird losses.
  21. as many times as you like, race by race if you like.we will get a good idea of what is happening to our feathered friends.
  22. so far 6 members have sadly reported big losses but on a brighter note 3 have reported 100% returns
