again brilliant performances mate this is why i put this thread on as most fanciers have a particular race thats either lucky/good to/for them ,it would be better if more posted to see their best races instead of looking in but saying nothing

when eddie won nantes 1st open ,frank souness dunbar was second , my hen that won snrpc reims is a g/g dtr of the souness bird i know its a wee bit off topic .I think there were many write ups in various weekly and monthly mag's over the years
-
have to agree with vincent1 , after last year , it is a dream come true, so its reims with the snrpc 26th june in a state o the art transporter, air con, self leveler ,lights, automatic watering and release system .the birds come home looking like they have'nt been away.definately the way forward.

would that be flute players gareth?
-
i was talking about scoring at the distance gareth, think about it ,you buy them as yougsters, keep them a year breed off them , so thats 1 year, you breed for 2 years swaping pairs and the young are now 2yrs and 3yrs old , so thats 4years till you send them to 500-600 miles and thats your first attempt at this distance ,remember gareth i was talking about a novice here, thats why i have said you can find out sprinters quicker than distance birds, and agree 3years is long enough for them
-
For any novices out there . IF you are going to buy in distance birds i think it would take you at least 5 years to really find them out, you have them a year before you breed off them , then are they with the right mate? remember it's normally is 2 or 3 yr olds that you send to distance races , then you have to think , if they dont score, have you ste them up right have you fed them right all these things come into it,whereas sprinters you can /could tell within a year or 2 if they are the dogs boll@cks or not, so think before you waste your money with wrong decisions.
-
never mind snfc , must be the best if not ,one of the best records in britain.
-
i have to agree with some that you never gave them much time mate, maybe gareth is right and you can enlighten us why you got rid of them? This reminds me of a guy i gave my best to in 1993 (w&m wilson birds) they had just won 23 tropheys that year ,i gave him youngsters (6) out of my stock loft , when i met him 2 years later i asked him how are they doing , he told me the were rubbish ,birds from this one and that one were beating them home every week ,i asked how far out have you tried them he said about 200miles , i left it at that and never spoke to him, dodged his call's, for years , then a phone call out of the blue maybe 8/10 years have you any of these birds left they were winning out of turn for him and others for years before . So i politely told him none left .IT does take time ,well more than a year to find out about birds ,how to fly them etc , but some dont have time and so after a year everything is RUBBISH

thanx guy's just a past time here till the hard work start's ,some fantastic stories and performances ,but it was not just about who won what even if you have raced 20 times from a race and been second every time to me thats a lucky/unlucky race depends on how you look at it, but thanx again guy's good luck in your races again this and future years cheers stuart
-
this is thread about good/lucky race thats all, not a look at me im winning , i've been thinking back when i member of my old club 20 odd years ago had a grizzle hen that only won from dorchester 3 years running i think it won the west coast combine twice and was second as well ,all the old members said it had a short cut.his name was tom crawford .in fact the time he was second i ran over to his house to tell him the bird was on his landing board , he was in the house and never seen it
