    Dvds Wanted

any one got any half decent DVDS?
  2. yea its about 2 min walk from my front door but wont be racing this year so didnt want to join the club, think our club runs jan-jan so almost missed half of it now... will just be training the birds this year and hopefully start racing them next season
  3. i joined the NEHU so that i can transfer my new pigeons in to my own name etc.. i got a receipt back today for my payment, but thats all.. do i get a loft number and membership number from them? is it a yearly fee? I thought i would of got some more info back other than just a receipt?
  4. well i opened up the aviary today they all just stood on the edge, didnt want to leave it at all, so i put 2 up on top of the aviary, they had a quick look around and went straight in through the trap! seems like this is going to take a while!
  5. A flyer from thirsk who flys well has kindly gave me 4 young birds today! ive never met her before, a bloke whos helping me out abit knows her and asked if she had any young, and offered me these 4, very kind i thought! what colours are they classed as? also is there a certain breed they are classed as? i see different names like Busschaerts etc, are these different breeds or lines or something totally different?
  6. cheers for the advice, im going to let them out tomorrow evening and go from there! quite nervous haha!!
  7. i will do, just cant get back there for a few days now!
  8. does any one use easitox? once its out of date is it ready for the bin or still ok to use? just bought some today but is out of date 03/14 is it ok to use or no good?
  9. cheers, they had a light feed this morning, would you let them out this evening, or wait until tomorrow? would you only let them in via the trap, or would you let them in whichever way they will come in for now?
  10. once they been out for a while, should i call them back in with seed, or just let them be out as long as they want and let them go back in when they are ready?
  11. my young birds have settled in nicely now, they will eat as soon as i put the seed down (they used to hide behind eachother until i left the loft) ive had them in the basket a couple of times, and put the basket up against the trap and called them in with seed, they are coming out of the basket, through the wire traps to get seed quite quickly now, they will also willingly enter and leave the outside aviary on their own now.. whats the next step, open the doors and let them out?
  12. some one had shared this on facebook today, ive only been in to pigeons for a short while and it still annoys the hell out of me seeing some of the comments people have wrote... especially the ones that are incorrect... wish people would get their facts right before writing about it heres the post i was on about..... https://www.facebook.com/BBCRadioCornwall/posts/784560451568111
  13. shocked to see this! does this happen regular, birds go missing for a couple of days then return?? im dreading the 1st time i ever let my birds out!
  14. i think your right, i left it where it was killed and kept watch, a crow came and started dragging the remains around the garden!!
  15. is this a cat or something else? will whatever killed come back for it?
  16. Took longer than i thought to build, and used ALOT more wood that I calculated (twice ha!) but i think it was worth it, im happy with how its turned out! after these pics were taken, ive installed all the wire traps in the open windows! perfect timing, as i have just been given these!!
  17. just been given some young birds, they are not old enough to fly really, and currently seem to want to stay on the floor to sleep etc.. whats the best procedure for me now? ive been reading up and alot of people seem to like to put them in darkness during set hours.. am i best to do this? am i best to stick to set feeding times, or should i leave feed in there constantly for now?
  18. is it correct that you can have lime floors in the loft to help keep it dry and to keep bacteria etc away? im sure i read, or was told it, but i cant think where or who told me! if not, what do you use on your floors, anything or just leave it bare and scrape it?
  19. after debating on wire mesh or dowels, i opted for dowels, so today ive been building the dowel doors and fronts! quite happy with how they turned out, got 1 more dowel door to make, then 1 solid ply door (so cocks cant see the hens??) heres some pics of the progress today
  20. Are dowels essential over the likes of wire mesh? I'm building the internals of my loft today and was going to use wire mesh fronts, I've read a few posts saying this is a no no... What about the aviary I've made one that's about 2 foot tall that's got wire mesh fronts... Is this a problem, or is it mainly the internal section that's a problem?
  21. no, its a raised aviary, and then there is doors in to the loft from aviary, should be almost mouse proof i think!
  22. brilliant, i will use that then! didnt want to use wood as the floor in the outside part as it might get wet from rain, thought mesh would be cleaner!
  23. just wondering are pigeons ok to walk on 1" square wire mesh? i was going to use it in the bottom of the aviary... is it ok, or abit to big?
  24. Floors down now, done that after the roof, the floor is moisture resistant chip board, didn't want to put floor down with out a roof incase it rained and ruined flooring...
  25. done some more over the last couple of days, definatley taking shape now!
