Man over time exterminated them over many centuries It seems now they are migrating from,Sweden,Finland etc Eagle Owls can fly over a range 250/300 miles it is said. When I was carp fishing up and down the country for monsters roaming some large lakes,gravel pits etc. I used to watch the ruddy ducks,weird little things,with there blue beaks,no threat to anything (baits etc,or wildlife) One angler told me they were culling the Ruddy ducks in England, ( some years back ) Why because some Ruddys were migrating over the channel into France and mating with there ruddys Which were different to there's. Such a shame
