We don`t need to buy anymore doos, we`ll be there to cheer on our own. Failing that the other scotties. John I don`t think my lugs are big enough to stop that hat falling ower my eyes lol but I`ll try and get a couple sizes smaller. At worst we can get stuck into the pig on the spit and wash it down with that barrel of Dorada that is kindly supplied by our host. :emoticon-0167-beer: cheers Allan -

That`s not a bad idea pal, this is my second year in this race. My activated bird "HIEDRA" last year won 10th in the car race and 37th in the final. It won enough back to more than pay for my entry this year. Its about £200:00 plus £30:00 per bird. I would suggest waiting till the third party activations are open when you can activate birds for 220e (£200). The picking is just pot luck but 2nd and 3rd open last year were third party activations. Its also a bit of fun logging in for the race to see if your bird makes. Allan -

C`mon John, don`t give up, we still have Rapier and Pienter left for the "Doolanders". Remember only one can win and there are a lot of prizes in the final. Lady luck certainly has to be on the doos side but our own racing in Britain is becoming like that wi` BOP problems. :emoticon-0167-beer: Allan -

With regards to black mins, a few years ago I noticed most of my 7 -14 old y/bs nest boxes were sloppy. The stock birds could not get enough black mins and also the drinkers had to be constantly refilled. I mentioned this to a doctor friend and he told me to mix black and pink together. In a few days the stock loft was back to normal. He told me that because of the amount of salt in black mins (Normally the cheaper ones, the birds take them when feeding and the salt increases their thirst so they pump the y/bs with more water that feed. For years now I have mixed the minerals and have never had that problem again. With pick stones my stock birds have them all the time until 7 - 14 old y/bs then they are given no more than one block a day. Hope this helps and p.s.The black mins were not branded e.g. Gerdon or kilpatrick. Allan :emoticon-0167-beer:

I think that Wuldon was asking If these fanciers mentioned, I think from the South Africa race was " are any of them competing in the Arona derby as well". It seems quite common for some guys to send birds to a number of OL races. Allan -

Thanks Homer and Tammy-1 for your support, but lets be glad for any bird that makes it home to the loft no matter who it belongs to. This is just a wee bit fun before the racing starts in April and if our 2 don`t make the final, i`ll be there to cheer the winners. Best wishes Allan :emoticon-0123-party: :emoticon-0167-beer: :emoticon-0123-party: -

I thought Homer had given up his roving ways after three nights out, but maybe not. If he makes it back for the first water toss, I think i`ll get the ferry to drop buoys every 5 miles so he can have his we rests. :emoticon-0140-rofl: not carrying much luck in the Doolanders team either, down from 6 to 1 in a week. Still the flights are booked and the Scottish entries will get be well supported on the day. Keep up the good returns Wuldon. -

Hi Wuldon, "Homer" has decided on another night out. I noted at the arrival to day when the name board was about 125, A chequer landed and looked to have problems with its leg/s then another had feathers hanging from its chest. I suppose with 900 birds there can easily be casualties. Tomorrow is another day, well done the scottish teams. :scotland: Allan -

I fine ken that John, and I`m looking forward to march to have a drink with the rest of the team and with "Wuldon as well. It would be great if we could get Rapier in with the leaders, and I widna mind if Homer tagged along. I am keeping an eye on Guajiri this year, its bred from the same loft that bred Hiedra last year. The loft that bred them (De Cuba) has a great record in this race (Edu wears 3 gold rings on his chain). I thought that "wuldon" had activated one of his birds, (could be wrong) anyway I`ll be there to cheer on any birds representing Scotland. Allan :emoticon-0123-party: -

C`mon John naeboby feels sorry for me, chuffed to bits that homer made it.I just hate to lose doos,it`s worse than racing at home except there`s nae point moaning at the race controllers cos they don`t understand the language. :emoticon-0140-rofl: Clockman! i`ve never left half a pie in my life, the only thing goin for me is my healthy appetite. :emoticon-0167-beer: good luck to all for tuesdays trainer. 1,000 birds were liberated at 12:40 from 60km (about 40mls) with about 200 arriving 42 minutes later. Temp was 22c, and of 145 birds timed in in one minute, the first 5 were owned by "Wuldon" well done pal. All Scottish birds home with the exception of "Homer " for seashore. Well done everyone. ^_^ -
Myself and some clubmates attended Lennies funeral at stenhousemuir cemetary at 11:00am yesterday. there must have been around 100 paying their last respects to him. Len was a dog handler with the police up to retirement, and before his cortege arrived at the cemetary two dog handlers arrived at the gates with their dogs to salute him as the hearse drove past. The hearse was led from the church by a piper and was accompaned by members of the orange lodge to his final resting place. Respect shown to a good guy. R.I.P. Lennie. :emoticon-0167-beer:

Birds liberated at 12 noon, the batch split with 1/2 leaving for loft and the others flew for 10/15 mins then split again with one batch heading for home. At 12:56 a large number started to land (about 450) "well done to wuldon for first Scottish arrival" there is still 50 birds missing (2 scottish) Jose did not say why the birds split but stated that there was no falcon attack this time. Good luck for the next toss everyone. "Seashore" "Homer" for Scotland arrived at 13:20 on second day. It`s been a good toss with 13 short from the 1023 sent. The next toss is from 55km. Best of luck to everyone. ^_^ "Seashore" -
I think I`m right in saying that that lens is for an upmarket (price) camera. I have an older 35mm one that has lenses like that. They seem to all be the same type of thread to screw them to the front of most cameras. Most of our digital cameras have fitted lenses where you can zoom in on the subject, and it may state " 3x zoom". These lenses can be interchanged for different siuations, to zoom in close to things like wildlife. There is a number of lenses for different jobs. I`m no expert but if you need any more on screw on lenses, my near neighbour is a keen photographer. Hope this helps. PS. Macro is for taking close ups of small things and most cameras have this facility built in. Set macro to take pics of flowers, bugs and possibly eyesign or anything where the pic is taken from a very close distance.

Well done wullie, I like your choice. Surprised there has not been more of these "Team America" doos snapped up early. I note that "Selenea" has still 5 nest flights to go, so I`ll be watching it in the coming races.I still have "Rapier" and George has "Dirk" left in the Doolanders team and the 2 Johns and Jim will activate another 3 birds for the team. So best of luck to all the competitors, remember "were a` Jock Tamsons bairns" Allan -
