Ive got a couple where the flights look as if they are to long and cross over each other in relation to length with tail all mine seem to be about 2 3rds of tail length

try putting some cider vinegar in the dogs water it stops it but only a small amount(few drops) thats what my mates used for years and his grass is lush green
