Thank you for replies, the reason for asking had a young bird come in the owner said he doesn't have ets and lost bird long time ago, if true which I have no reason to doubt, then someone has been very naughty, how can I tell what system it come from as not having ets no ideas at all

Can someone please help me out and tell me what information is stored on the chips/rings please

With the greatest of respect many posts have been put on various sites lately, about birds returning minus ets rings, one person said his had been found in a crate and handed back to him, not saying this has happened in your case but people to quick to point fingers sometimes and there could be a very reasonable explanation as to why it has come back without it, as I say no disrespect to anyone
