GOT TO AGREE WITH ROLAND HERE AS I THINK THE BIRDS NEED SOME FOOD HIGH IN CARBO,S SUCH AS MAIZE,SUNFLOWER SEEDS OR PEANUTS ETC TO KEEP THEM WARM THROUGH THE WINTER MONTHS, BUT IN MODERATION ADDED TO THEIR NORMAL FEED KEV

to fifer- i spoke to original owner and he said he hasnt gone back to him,the lost pigeon was rearing a youngster (a gift for a friend)when he went missing, his hen went missing at the same time with 2 others but the 3 of them returned within the next 3 days,im assuming that a hawk got into them and took the missing pigeon unless anyone else can think of any other possible reasons for them disappearing over 3 days? kev :-/

ive never thought of using loft heaters, my loft is very well ventilated and is kept that way throughout the year and my birds seem to thrive on it-i dont like closed in lofts and like my birds to get as much fresh air as possible, that said i am only a novice with a lot to learn kev ;D ;D

i always use versele laga as its the only brand that ive found to be 100 per cent in terms of quality, ive found that other brands have contained some mould and weevils in them so prefer to pay the extra for versele laga kev

seeing the pictures of the burnt out loft on the forum and those poor pigeons made my blood boil-id like to get the scum that did this and torch them, why do they do it? because they know they can without fear of any real punishment and in some cases the parents are not much better themselves, its now got to the stage where we cant even defend ourselfs for fear of ending up in court, with all the do-gooders and human rights people defending these scum we have no chance of anything changing for the better kev

HI IM SORRY TO HEAR THAT THE OWNER OF THE FIRST BIRD WASNT INTERESTED IN HAVING IT BACK-WE ARE NOT ALL LIKE THAT.TELLING YOU TO LET IT MIX WITH THE LOCAL FERAL BIRDS WAS TOTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE, NOW THAT YOU ARE FEEDING THE 2 BIRDS THEY ARE UNLIKELY TO GO FAR AND WILL PROBABLY CARRY ON VISITING YOU DAILY FOR FOOD, I WILL SEND YOU A PRIVATE MESSAGE WITH A CONTACT TEL NO IN CASE YOU NEED FURTHER HELP/ADVICE. THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME AND EFFORT TO CARE FOR THE BIRDS KEVIN

a couple of weeks ago i reported on pigeonbasics that i was starting to have sparrowhawk problems and that one was seen around my loft, after a couple of days things seemed to go quite with no more hawk sightings so i started to let my birds out for excercise again.all seemed ok for a while until i noticed at feeding time one day that 4 birds were missing-1 pair on youngsters and 2 other old birds[the latebred youngsters are for a friend] the next morning the hen to the youngsters returned with another missing old bird and the following day the cock bird returned leaving only 1 old bird missing[this being a stray that was given to me after being lost on a hard channel race]that had been in my loft for 18 months,im assuming that the reason for these birds going missing is due to hawks, especially the pair sitting youngsters? any thoughts/advice on this would be appreciated kev
