  1. JCOOPERLOGISTICS I have sent you a PM, (Top right of page, click on pm) cheers
  2. Cooper logistics collected two batches of birds from me last Thursday, one batch delivered yesterday, the other today. I also phoned them a week past monday to bring one of my birds back from Northumberland. They still haven't collected it yet. Can't get through on phone numbers, always engaged. This is not a dig at them as I know they must be busy but I've spent over a week on the phone and it's driving me nuts > >
  3. Our doo has done a disappearing act ??) should be taking 18th region G on 1173.392. It's not only pigeon couriers that are forgetting about us at the moment ;D ;D ;D
  4. My mistake misread 229 miles instead of 220. Any chance of a lift to specsavers Williedoo?
  5. If the Mclean pigeon is in at bang on 4.49pm and his distance is bang on 229 miles his vel. would be 1556. so does look like he could have the winner as the hay pigeon at 17.46 over 259 miles is doing 1442
  6. Had two lots of 4 pigeons collected from me in Peterhead last Thursday by Cooper Logistics, one going to Norfolk and the other going to Stourbridge, end result is that neither of the fanciers have received their birds yet 6 days later. I also arranged fro them to bring a stray of mine back from Northumberland last week and I haven't seen this one yet either. Cooper Logistics rang me last night to say they would be with me in 2 hours to COLLECT 4 pigeons when I told the driver he should be delivering a pigeon to me and not collecting he said he would ring back. As yet no word. Tried ringing them this morning, engaged all the time for last hour. I know they must be very busy, but I'm getting a bit frustrated now.
  7. I do not know Jakies exact distance, but have guessed at roughly 352 miles 1000 yards. Flying time 7.5 hours giving him vel. of 1378. Walter Masson of Inverallochy flies 352 miles 423 yards and stays not far from Jakie, so I won't be far out.
  8. Jakies distance is approx. 352 - 353 miles, vel should be around 1378.
  9. Just clocked at 8.00am 340 miles. Jakie Ritchie, Inverallochy in at 6.45am 350 plus miles
  10. When do the shortest flyers expect to get arrivals and what sort of distance do they have? we are 340miles so it's doubtful if we will get them before dark? Looks like an early rise tomorrow.
  11. The pressure is on for us now Delboy ??) ;D
  12. Good luck Derek, I'll spread the word to our members. Hope everyone digs deep for some quality youngsters for such a worthy cause. All the best. Stuart.
  13. That would be Robert Higgins. (Robbiedoo on this forum) Quite a lot of strays end up there, but I know of at least 3 fanciers who work there and try to catch as many as they can, but some are not so lucky, Percy uses the flare stacks for plucking posts and many doos have been found dead underneath them.
  14. Your right Ian, anything that is motionless for more than a few moments is at risk ;D ;D But we're not all doom and gloom, we have a maternity room with an in-house midwife and have had a few weddings in our hall, so we are renaming the firm HATCHES, MATCHES & DISPATCHES (FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE) :P
  15. Our club sec. went to the harbour in Peterhead today to uplift a stray youngster which had landed on a trawler 110 miles east of Peterhead ??) He couldn't remember ring but said it was a Dundee Fed ring. I will post it here when he checks it.
  16. I'll make sure your box will be screwed down tight Stevie ;D Also get my birds tossed when i come to pick you up ;D Your card must be marked Stevie as your post is in between the undertaker and cemetery ;D
  17. GB 08 V 27951 entered my loft tonight, has been hanging around for a couple of days. No wing stamp, phone No. ring, ets ring or rubber any takers?
  18. Timed at 9.06 from Montrose 59 miles 8:00am lib, returns 17/20
  19. Our club uses Unikon and it is so simple to use from the fanciers point of view. I also am responsible for assigning all members ets rings and this again is quite straightforward (if fanciers know their own pigeons ring numbers that is ;D) so I would have no hesitstion in reccomending Unikon. We also use East Coast softwares FSS to manage our clocks and results and what a brilliant programme this is. It is far better than the Unikon software. As for the other brands of ets, I couldn't comment as I have never used or seen them in operation. No complaints about Unikon, first class system.
  20. It was my pleasure John, it was great to meet you. Glad you had a safe journey home. Cheers Stuart
  21. SU 08 L 14362, Dark Cheq, at the loft of Gordon Willox Peterhead. Any takers?
  22. The fed would have to study the maps carefully, possibly around 30- 40 miles west of Alnwick (or even further?) which would give the youngsters the opportunity to cross the firth of forth where it is not at it's widest and also give a direct line over land to the centre of our feds radius and do away with the dogleg. But then again would this bring the Pentland Hills into play? :-/ The emphasis here is the welfare of the pigeons and not which clubs gain or lose distance wise. The first person to get the blame for a bad race is the race controller, but all I can say is that they try their best to give us a race, and if it turns bad they get it in the neck and the other side of the coin, if they think the forecast is bad and don't liberate, there are cries of "why didn't he liberate" they can never win.
  23. I know what you're saying Bart, but experience from these racepoints, ie Alnwick and Whitley Bay, leads me to the conclusion that the y/bs will try to come over the water as when at my previous address which was not far from the sea, the birds, especially the leaders, always came out of the east when there was any west in the wind and fanciers right on the waters edge seen them coming in from the sea. The latecomers probably hugged the coast or took less water, could that be because they were not so fit, who knows. The wind turned North west in Peterhead on Sunday morning with the heavy rain clearing out into the sea which would have been right in the birds path if they took the direct route. It will be interesting to sea how many turn up or are reported. I would suggest any that do will be ones that wern't going to make it anyway, even on a good day.
  24. I think they have gone out on to the sea and hit heavy rain, bet they will never be seen again. I f you look at a map and draw a straight line between Alnwick and Peterhead it,s almost entirely over water. The west in the wind, the heavy rain showers and the geography was a recipe for disaster. We have to get a racepoint further inland with a line that takes out the sea.
  25. 6/31 from Alnwick disaster, gutted :(
