i tried that and it didn't work well as they weren't able to escape any predator i found with taping them you dont have to wait for feathers to grow back and every couple of days you can adjust what you are doing with them

computers gone mad LOL try that site thow i really enjoy it and it is for non racing fanciers with fancy pigeons
-
it is always best to keep a few pairs in to breed from stock birds then if anything is to strike be it a hawk or cat you still have pairs to breed from i have 3 pair of prisoners of which i am breeding from you can tell the sex if you observe mine go mad after they have ate the cocks coo and drive the hens if you watch them long enuff you will soon see the difference and they are always keen to breed so you shouldn't have problems pairing and breeding them if they are of age try this site for more advice http://fancypigeonchatter.forumakers.com/

maybe if they have flown from his loft. i had 1 return to me 2weeks ago from november last year about 15 miles away. Now this bird has had young at new loft and flown out since december yet after 2 broods her mate dissapeared and she has returned to me so from 5 miles you may have a hard time breaking them unless they are young birds and keep them happy and healthy so they don't want to return to old loft
-
how far did you get them from they may have gone back to old loft if not to far away mine did 25miles to old loft my 1st birds last year
-
Wish mine would but we used to have a cat so he doesn't attack them now LOL
-
this way caused me trouble last year with cats i lost 3 birds as i taped up whole wing 1 side easy prey for cats and alike if you do 5 feathers at the end of wing they can still fly but not to far so they will sit on roof and get a good look around the area my rollers are fully settled here now from this method i have also done the same with racers who have been settled and flying in other lofts and got them to stick around it is easier to get them to settle if you have birds already settled to let them out with
-
I used low adhesive masking tape on mine around the 1st 5 flight feathers on each wing this means they can still fly but resticted to what they can do they will fly around the garden from loft to floor and every 2 days i re taped up a feather less each time
-
this works i was given this advice by tippler1 and did so and it worked i did tape the wings for a week then kept them hungry and grounded by throwing a grain to them then i left them to do what they chose and they have all stayed and now layed egg's so happy me and good advice from here. if they are of age try pair them before untaping them

sorry to interupt this thread longstone there is another fella on here horseman the best he is from edinburgh has had his hut broke into and has had 8 pair of horseman stolen he has a thread just thought you should know as it happened to you aswell in the same area and it seems they have targeted horseman keepers

like i said before pal another guy in your area was on asking for some the other day he was gifted 5 racers as not many people have horseman's He also had his birds stolen maybe you should reply to his post if he is near to you get in touch with him and then the police as it seems that they thieves are targeting people with horseman birds that is 16 pairs stolen it days of each other
